Thinking of travelling the world by train?

No?

Just Europe then?

Or the USA?

Here's a handy little website................just in case.

Packed with tips, hints and useful info.

The man in seat 61......

What could have been a dull read, appealing only to text-book trainspotters is actually one of the web's best resources for personal information regarding overseas rail travel, IMO.

(all credit given to Radio 2's Miles Mendoza for finding this site)

Thanks, what an interesting and informative site, although the information can be disheartening (I was checking Mexico and most all the trains have been cut.) :-( Too bad, train travel seems so civilized.

The last train trip I took was described by Mr. Seat 61 as the "Most Wonderful Train in Britain." I remember it as a tough night for sleep though we enjoyed ourselves anyway and loved the idea of getting from Fort William to London in one swoop.

That's a wonderful site, though I didn't see anything (I may have missed it) re the Auto Train, which is offered by Amtrak from some spot in Virginia to central Florida.

I'm sure if you email him, jespah, he'll add it on to the site if it's missing.

Good site though, isn't it.

Oh, definitely. I love trains, though m'Daddy used to be a different kind of engineer. I think I was 6 or so before I realized he worked with a slide rule rather than shoveled coal.
