Hello All,

I came across this site like alot of people searching for rainsoft help. I have had my unit six years and had rainsoft (Discovery Marketing) do an annual maintenance on the unit the past 3 years because it likes to seize up once a year (o rings). Well they were supposed to come out last week and fix it. Tech never showed up. Go figure. Well I had enough of them. I ordered some o ring through them and got a parts list. I just received the parts today which really shocked me. Shocked

I am a pretty hands on person and can do just about anything I set my mind too. Handy work is easy for me. I am going to dig into this system this weekend and replace the o rings and check the motor to make sure everything is right. I vaguely remember a tech once telling me that you have to set the motor back to certain position but am not sure.

Long story short. I have to replace O rings to get this thing working. I need to get some silicone lubricant for the orings and valves - any idea where I could pickup locally?

Also any tips , suggestions, hints, etc you can provide for me going into this is much appreciated.

BTW I did search on this and read through countless posts before posting so I hope someone else has done this.

Thanks in advance for the assistance. Since I am somewhat of a computer "geek" I will head off to the computer forums to see if I can offer someone else some assistance.

Use DOW 7 to lube the O rings.
This problem should not be occurring.
It sounds like you need some type of pre-filter ahead of the softener to protect it.
What is the iron content and what is the Ph of your raw water?
