I have a Q2 water softener and the Piston Assembly is stuck. The brass pin that connects the controls to the motor sheered. I replaced the pin but I am not able to loosen the piston assembly. I can get it to move a little bit, but only about half as much as it should. I am thinking that this piston assembly should just pull out the top after the plastic screw cap is removed, but I cannot get it out. CAn anyone help me?
The last one I repaired that was that bad required me to remove the head from the tank then
remove the riser pipe adapter and screen so that I could tap the piston out from the bottom.
I used a dowel rod and a small hammer.
