Hi, I have a Rainsoft system and occasionally have salty tap water in the morning. Because this problem occurs only once every 3-4 weeks it's hard to pin down. Any suggestions? Al

This is usually a pressure problem during regeneration.
There is not enough pressure to rinse all of the brine from
the resin before the system goes into fast rinse.

Are you on a private well or municipal water?
Do you have more than one backwashing filter?
If yes, are they set to backwash on the same day/time?

Hi again. We are on municipal water, and as far as I know only one filter. The regeneration cycle begins at midnight and according to Rainsoft should finish by 0400. Even if the cycle takes a bit longer, the first usage in the morning doesn't occur until 0440. During the middle of the night the only 2 things I can think of that would impact the water pressure would be flushing the toilet. Could this create the problem if it happened at just the wrong time? Al

Follow-up with model#
Hi. The model appearing on the unit look's like: AQB 844CT 50/6 0HZ. I took a photo of the unit, but see no way to attach to this posting. Al

The model is a "Q2". According to the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual, the way to get rid of the "salty water" is to open the tap and let the water run. Question is, what is causing this to occur every 2-3 weeks?

....filling in for gus.

invent, H2O man will be away for a little while (even super heros need a holiday ocasionally). I understand he is servicing the rainsoft system at the fortress of solitude. the kryptoclok needs a new motor or some such....

He should be along in a day or so.

I'm back Cool

Low pressure ahead of the unit and/or back pressure on the drain line are the first things I look at when the tap water is salty.
