Well, you have succeeded in failing.

But you have failed at succeeding.

Depends on your motives!

The bunny beat me to my answer but I'd add to that short list and say that, in most cases, you learned something.

Nope, this is question I got from a friend, and I thought it was interesting, so I thought I'd throw it out and see what happens. My short answer is that you succeed, that you tried to fail and you succeeded at that.

I guess The Producers could come in here. They succeeded in being successful at a something they had tried to set up as a failure, but I don't think it's quite the same thing.

I think the real question is, when we try our darndest to succeed, but fail, have we really failed? Is it necessary to take risks in our lives? If we take risks, one of the possible outcome is to fail. c.i.

Just a lil' gentle humor, there, Boss, about Mel Brooks . . .

Honestly, for me, this question is no question . . . it's just a conundrum

No!
The concrete thinking group bursts in, led by Sofia, as usual.

If you tried to fail, and succeed--you successfully failed.
You succeeded at failing. (Sentence structure figgurs in.)

Yep - it's a puzzle. More likely, it's a ring that keeps rolling.

I like that, sofia, but I don't think I'd go so far as concrete. Sand, maybe?

If you try to fail, and succeed, then you are living large.

Failure is impossible if you keep learning. Or playing. Or singing.
Or if you enjoy failure as much as success!
Or if you are above judging so many things in those terms.
Or if you approach situations without clinging to a goal.

The larger the life, the less reason we have to succeed or fail.
It is what it is, if you are here.

Within success, there is always an aspect of failure, and within failure, a kernal of success.

Polarity is pervasive, but imperfect!

Here's a frightening thought: run for president (knowing you will fail), then win it. Wink c.i.

Failure is not an option. I know somebody said that, but who? Or, how many?

Well, I know that Ed Harris' character in Apollo 13 said it, in reference to what should be their attitude about rescuing the astronauts...

C.I.;

How about run for president expecting to fail; fail, but win anyway; then turn a round and hold a four year clinic on failing!
