Trying to purchase a water softener for the house...

Looked at Rainsoft, Eco, & Fleck. Down to Fleck.

Company we're talking to offered the 5600SE or 6700.

Company said the 6700 has chlorine reduction & the 5600SE doesn't.

I have seen zero mentions of the 6700 on the web.

There's a ton of info on the 5600SE & some on the 2510 (appears that H20 Man is a fan of the 2510).

Does anyone know anything about the 6700? Why buy a 5600SE, 2510, or 6700? Question

The 5600 is the economy valve RainSoft Gold and Siler series valves are built on.
I have one 6700 series in service, it has all the whistles & bells and it has been nothing but problems.
The 2510SE valve is a heavy duty, high performance contractor/commercial valve.
It lacks unnecessary bells & whistles. I have hundreds of these in service - all are problem free.

So as I understand it...
5600 - no chlorine reduction. Correct me if that's wrong.
Does the 2510 offer chlorine reduction?

Thanks!

Sorry I missed that one

The control valve has nothing to do with Chlorine reduction.

I install a separate full size, high flow GAC filter tank with the same 2510SE digital valve set up as a filter valve.
Granulated Activated Carbon reduces the necessary evil ~ Chlorine ~ and it's many by-products.

BTW, did you know Chlorine dissolves some cheaper softener resin beads as well as the old grey Quest plumbing?

This is great on well and city water and it doubles as an excellent sediment filter that is self cleaning.

GAC is great for water. I offer this to all of my clients and upgrade existing non-backwashing GAC filters often.

H2OMan, I do not recall if I ever wished you a Merry Christmas, but, if not, I would like to take this opportunity to do such a thing.

Merry Christmas, H2OMan. I love you like a brother.

So, as I understand it, the GAC is an add-on.

Am I correct in assuming that one valve does both the softening & chlorine reduction?

And, if they could add GAC onto the 6700, there's no reason they can't add it onto the 5600 or 2510.

Any of the control valves can be configured for filter or softeners.
The GAC filter is an add-on item or it can be part of a pkg. deal.

Right to Left: GAC filter with 2510SE, Softener with metered 2510SE, salt tank.
