Notice the difference between those two coyotes. The one I posted is from the upper midwest where they've recently migrated. As they did they crossed with wolves and domesticate dogs, getting much larger and more dangerous than their southwestern relatives.

They are most certainly unwelcome in any upland bird hunting area as they will decimate the ground nesting bird population. They also kill many young deer. In fact, most of the coyote scat I've found is full of deer hair (they eat the whole thing, hair and all).

Kea, parrot of New Zealand. These birds live in mountainous and alpine regions, where there's snow. Unusual for birds of the parrot family:

The purplish bird might be a type of pigeon.

Looks similar and this is a Western Crowned Pigeon

Thanks, TTH. Definitely a western crowned pigeon. Wonderful photos with the link. Some of them will probably end up here. I appreciate the help.

I usually try to keep humans out of the photos, but I wanted you to get a sense of the size of these little guys. Mouse lemur, smallest of all primates:

Thanks, gus. Know about babirusas. Their tusks grow through the skin and up onto the top of their snouts. Sometimes they grow back down through the skin. The sacrifices some animals go through for beauty. Fact is, I kinda like the way they look. Not traditional beauty. But primitive and rough. No accounting for taste.

I hope it's ok to post this here. It's not exactly a picture but a video of a very strange animal. I have no idea what it is called, as it isn't mentioned in this short video clip. *sigh* hate the commercials in the beginning. Laughing

I think it is adorable though!

Thanx Ros! Hmmm, he doesn't look quite as cute in the picture as he did in the video. What a strange little creature he is.

They (jerboa) are used as "do not litter" signs all over Tunisia.
