Black-winged damselfly, Calopteryx atrata (I think). Onboard flash:

There's a cockerel in the animal garden who brings a smile to everyone's face - he is so awkward and comical - but quite beautiful too, in his own way! Not sure of the breed, but he really is an amazing character. He runs round faster than any bird I've ever seen - his gait is ungainly and 'flatfooted' and his untidy plumage flaps in the breeze quite wildly. This is the best photo I could manage - he just won't keep still, and on the rare moments that he does, he crows manically!

@vonny,
vonny, Is that red chicken wearing pants? The second chicken looks kinda diseased.

HH, White peacock, blue flowers. That is a magnificent photo. Truly stunning. Merci beaucoup. Whatever that is in the second photo is amazing. The amphibian is another doozy. Looks almost like stone. Wow.

Hamburgboy, Thanks for the penguin pic.

FBM, Alway glad to see a spider pic. The one you posted is hard to make out. But thanks. Also thanks for the katydid. I think that damselfly looks more like a dragonfliy. I'm confused and bedazzled--does that make me confazzled?

@vonny,
I love it! The cokerel might be a Cochin, but I'm not sure.

I didn't want to post the full-size image because I didn't want to creep anybody out. Wink I took a few a few days ago that were among the best I've ever done, but they're maybe too creepy to post here.

Definitely a damselfly! https://www.google.co.kr/search?q=black+damselfly&newwindow=1&safe=off&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=FprkUY39L8O1kgXVpYCwDQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDkQ7Ak&biw=1024&bih=635

Don't let my qualmies freak you out, FBM. I'll gird my loins and . . . . learn.
I am an admirer of you.

@FBM,
Reg, Wow. Intimidating-looking PC. And a real stunner. I'm guessing it's a leopard. Could be wrong.

FBM, I like spiders, but I wasn't expecting to see a fly get et. Amazing detail. Thanks, kid.

Pangolin (a mammal), kind of anteater:

@FBM,
There are Cochins there - also the White Sultans, bantam breeds like Silkies and Pekins, plus several other varieties. All seem to get on well together. He's in good condition, has glossy plumage, clear eyes and healthy feet - just looks a bit odd. I guess in a human it might be called 'bed head' style! He doesn't appear to feather pluck - unlike his girlfriend who has a special coat fixed onto her back - presumably for that very reason? Here they are, out for a run together.

@tsarstepan,
FBM, A mantis. I'm a fan. There are some amazing and spectacular varieties of these. Overall, fascinating bugs. A bug with pink wings. I like it. Thanks.

vonny, Ok, the guy ain't diseased. Glad about that. Also glad to see he's got an SO. (I don't know much about chickens.)

Reg, Haunting a beautiful shot of the PC. A stunner.

tsar, I enjoyed that video. No only the prairie dog and the snake, but the entire sentry approach to group safety. Fascinating.
