@Barry The Mod,
Sorry - yes, it is a White Sultan. There were at least three of them - darling little creatures. The one I took the photograph of was very brave - he hopped right up onto a bench next to me!

@FBM,
The moth was a Tortricid, but it takes microscopic examination of the genitalia to be any more specific.

I'm cheating a little here. I just found it amusing that this little guy was hiding from me like that.

@vonny,
vonny, I like the toitle. Glad to see that no felines are hitching a ride on it. Also glad you got it the size you want. If you're concerned or unsure about the size, why not try "preview" and see what the size is? The bird is a stunner. Thanks mucho.

FBM, The first moth strikes my fancy. Polka dots. Is the caterpillar a pre-moth? The second moth must hang out on trees. It looks woody. The mystery beetle-like creature has an interesting necklace type of thing. My favorite is the katydid. It has personality. Thanks for them all.

You're looking at bug naughty bits under a microscope? Shocked

A bug was hiding from you, and we get to see a plant stalk with scrawny legs sticking out. Maybe the bug values its privacy.

I had an encounter with a couple of basenjis a while back. They are regal and beautiful. Also bigger than you might imagine. Although they're barkless, they do make noise. I'm especially enamored of their curly tails:

@Roberta,
I'm getting better at remembering to Preview first - as well as remembering to shrink sizes on Photobucket - oh so much to remember! Laughing But getting there - slowly! Here's another chicken photo - not sure of the breed - that's something else I need to remember, to write the breed down as I take the photograph!

I haven't ID'd the caterpillar yet. I think I'm going to have to ask for help with that one. Definitely not doing the microscopic exam on the moth! That would require killing the thing and I'm not into that. Wink One reason I stopped hunting and fishing and started photographing was that it enabled me to "take" without really taking...

And I respected the grasshopper's privacy. I didn't chase it around the grass stem. I try to treat the subjects as I would want to be treated. No stress, no harrassment. *adjusts halo*

@FBM,
I Just found this photographer's portfolio on the web http://photo.net/photodb/member-photos?user_id=1783374 - a lot of it right up your ally. Unfortunately for that picture it doesn't look like he had a clue what it was, usually he's pretty good e.g.

@hingehead,
Yeah, it looks like a lot of that is right up my alley, at least lately. Thanks for the link!

By the way, that last flutterby I posted is a Holly Blue.
