Bill, I thought about howler monkeys. Didn't know they came in brown. That threw me off. The multiple eye business is one of the things I like. Great close-up. Thanks, kid.

That's freaking sinister!

My alligator isn't as sinister as BillW's blancmange - I'd be terrified if that was sitting staring at me!!!

I was told this was the last or one of the last photos made of the extinct Tasmanian Tiger.

I remember that photo...
but not the story behind it.

I cry a little inside every time I see that picture, and there were many more Australian and New Zealand animals that were lost in just decades.....

Blobfish - This fish (if “fish” we can really call it) is the weirdest looking sea creature we’ve ever seen. What’s worse is that this animal is just as lazy as it looks and sounds…it barely expends any energy even eating, making sure it gobbles up whatever just happens to be floating by at the moment.

Sounds like my dog!

vonny, Advice my father gave me and directed at the smaller roo: Keep your left up. Amazing gator shot. Of all the dangerous animals in the world, the kind I would least like to encounter in the wild on its own turf is a crocodilian. IMO, they're more dangerous than sharks, snakes, bears, lions, etc. Helluva pic, kid. Thanks. Also thanks for the marine iguana. It's smiling about something.

Bill, Dem blobfishes have a singular look, don't they? Strange as it is, I think some other deep-sea fish are stranger looking. But this is definitely an eye of the beholder kinda thing.

Thousands of Arctic birds congregate on a stepped cliff face on Franz Josef Land, Russia. The guillemots swoop onto tiny ledges no more than a few inches wide to make their nest away from the harsh Arctic winds. An estimated 55,000 birds breed on this 650ft cliff, making it the biggest colony on the the archipelago. The spectacular sight was spotted by wildlife photographer P l Hermansen, 57, from a Russian icebreaker ship.
