@Barry The Mod,
Izzie, You can always make me smile. Cheetahs and eagles. Doesn't get much better than that. (I know about the mortality rate of cheetah cubs.)

Butrflynet, A calico Bruce Lee. Whoda thunk? Thanks.

Barry,

I've seen the sky
I've seen the sea
Never thought I'd see a cheetah pee

I'm plotzing and drooling all over my apartment. Messy. Also green with envy. Your trip to Africa. Seeing animals in the wild. You have photos of other animals. In the words of Oliver Twist, "More, please."

Monarch Butterfly

Photograph by Kenzie Reynen, Your Shot

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

I found a monarch chrysalis on a piece of bark while at work on a farm one day. Maybe I should not have brought the bark home, but I did, in anticipation of watching the monarch emerge. After a little over a week of life in a jar, the chrysalis changed colors, and the butterfly began to emerge. It was absolutely fascinating. This is the jar in which I watched it emerge, in which it first flapped its wings, and from which I freed it. What a beautiful creature.

@edgarblythe,
Izzele, Methinks the chameleon is a bit agitated. Could be wrong.

edgar, Glad to see that the horse is in charge of its own stable door. Great video. Thanks.

@edgarblythe,
Smart horse there Edgar. It's a shame the goober holding the camera doesn't understand the concept of using the camera to ACTUALLY visually record what's happening. He could have tried a little harder to actually keep the camera focused on the horses mouth and the latch.

@tsarstepan,
Hey, RH. Everybody's gotta make a living. Even stinkies. Sorry about the missing eggs. Between the chickens, the cats, the fox, and the skunk, maybe you should start a petting zoo. (Sorry to seem so unsympathetic. I have a soft spot in my heart for skunks--Flower in Bambi. I have a little porcelain skunk on my bookshelf.)

tsar, Flying squid? Now you got me. Lots of marine animals breach, but I didn't know about squid. As for the leopard/mirror pic, I can't get it to work. Phooey.

Another pic of monkeys behaving badly. Look at the expression on the man's face:

@Barry The Mod,
Beautiful boids, osso. Thanks mucho.

Barry, Is that an orca? And I'm guessing an egret and an alligator. Of course I could be wrong on all counts. Great pics whatever they are. Thanks.

I was watching the Westminster Dog Show (what a shock), and I was reminded of leonbergers. Here's a leonberger puppy:
