@Roberta,
So Barry's a Major, is he? Is that why he sticks in all the military propaganda.

@edgarblythe,
Great looking bug, RH. Do you know what it is? Just wondering.

edgar, On the edge of a thud. Each pic is a doozy, but I'm especially enamored of the cat/window blinds pic. Thanks muchisimo.

The bombardier beetle stores two reactant chemical compounds, hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide, near the rear tip of its abdomen.

When disturbed, the bombardier beetle contracts abdomen muscles that force the two reactants into a chamber that mixes them with water and enzymes, producing a violent exothermic reaction that raises the temperature of the mixture to almost that of boiling water.

The corresponding pressure buildup forces the entrance valves from the reactant storage chambers to close, thus protecting
the beetle's internal organs. The boiling, foul-smelling liquid partially becomes a gas (flash evaporation) and is expelled through an outlet valve into the atmosphere with a loud popping sound.

Is this a badass bug, or what?

@Rockhead,
I knew that. I guess it and the slug were just coincidental.

@firefly,
RH, I had no idea that a stinkbug would look so good. Go figure. Love the prairie dogs. Warms the cockles of my heart. Thanks.

Badass big time, snood. Beautiful colors. The insect world is full of wonders and amazing other-worldly creatures. Thanks, kid.

Barry, Was it a wild guess that led you to think I might like to see a pic of a chimp? I find them endlessly fascinating. I think I've learned about humans from learning about chimps. Wonderful. Two tiger cubs. Count 'em. Two! It's not uncommon for great apes in captivity to acquire pets. Why? Dunno. The pictures are glorious. Hey, ape. Dem PCs is gonna get mighty big. Be careful. I greatly envy your friend Daren. Please tell him the kid from the Bronx says hi. Wow. A Clydesdale.

firefly, Koalas are more than a little photogenic. Wonderful to see mothers and babies. Too cute. Not gonna thud. I refuse to thud.

Thud.

Speaking of insects looking other-worldly, here's a eucharatid wasp:

@tsarstepan,
Hey turkey. Lay low for a while. Or your comeback will be short-lived. Glad to see the bird in the wild, tsar. Thanks.
