@hingehead,
JTT, If there's a meaning for Mormon besides the religion, I don't know what it is. I googled Mormon butterfly name to find out what I could. According to Wikipedia, there's one version of the male Mormon and three versions of the female--three different wives, so to speak. Not sure if I buy the explanation.

HH, Let's play nice, please. This is a relaxing beautiful animals thread. I'm hoping to keep it that way.

Friendly prairie dogs:

@Roberta,
This is purely a guess, but they look to me like bluebirds or close relatives:

Second guess, perhaps a finch or grosbeak of some sort. What throws me is the parakeet-like coloration.

Your wish is my command, Ragman. Horseradish. Succulent-looking radish, isn't it.

@Barry The Mod,
jc, I always thought there were gefiltes swimming around. Shoulda known they'd be in Florida. Is that big fish, in fact, a grouper?

Ragman, Nice try. I don't think those are bluebirds, finches, or grosbeaks. I'll do some poking around and see what I can come up with. I have a bunch of bird books right here in my apt. And there's the Internet. We shall solve the mystery.

MJ, Doesn't look like my grandmother's horseradish. She made such a potent mix that fumes would rise from it. No actual horse though.

Barry, That dawg was bawn with springs in his feet. Thanks. Also thanks for the Crufts. Mighty fine looking lhasa apso.

I find myself in need of a B&O fix:

@tsarstepan,
tsar, OK, it's not a caterpillar. It's a bee eater. It's spectacular looking. Thanks mucho.

@Roberta,
Of course you all know that corals are animals, so it's OK to post this here - and anybody interested, this little private sub starts as low as $1.7 million

This jaguar is in Honduras and I was able to see it in person. The people there gave me this picture to post here. I hope you like it Roberta.

@tsarstepan,
Oh I get it now!
Last time I looked, I thought this was one creature.
Looking in again today: a bunch of absolutely beautiful little boids!
What brilliant colouring!
And they look so pleased with themselves!
Delightful. Very Happy

edit: "European Bee-eaters".
They eat bees? Surprised
