@ossobuco,
Hard to believe they can get caviar from them, isn't it? Wink

No credits or title but Wikipedia tells me these are probably Grey Crowned Crane, Balearica regulorum

@hingehead,
Hey HH

on Dartmoor - yep, all the ponies roam around freely on the moors - but I've never seen them in the Quarry before! It was such a hot day on Oct2nd and they needed a bit of a cool down - they followed us down from the Tor to the quarry - fabulous to see and be close to.

rest of the moors shots are here which shows where we (Tulip and kids) were ...

@djjd62,
Next time give advance notice - our hostess worried about you! This is Nicole, the white shark who was tracked for 12,400 miles from Africa to Australia:

@djjd62,
Da man is back, hallelujah!

Thanks, dj, for the wonderful pics. B&Os, chickens, caterpillar, and horses. Why are some of the equines wearing coats?

High Seas, Glad to see that Nicole is doing well. I know about her. I wonder if she'll cross the Pacific and end up in Hawaii. Time will tell. Thanks for the pic, kid.

@Roberta,
I love nudibranch's. What all animals would be if Gaudi was God.

@hingehead,
Hingie, Nudibranchs were my great surprise. When I started this thread, I'd never heard of them. They are a spectacular treasure. Never disappointed.

Starfish (sorry, I don't know what kind):

Wow! I had no idea living starfish looked anything like that--I'd only ever seen the dead ones you find washed up on beaches, and I thought they were all that sort of muddy brown. They're not! Amazing. Googled pictures, here's another:

oops, another one that I didn't check the file size before I posted. Well, you can really get a good view of their pores.

@Roberta,
The coats? Some horses like people get kind of cold, so the blanket like coats.

Franklin Park Zoo welcomes Yanhua and Duli
Quote:
The twin red pandas born over the summer at Franklin Park Zoo finally have names, thanks to Brookline's Chris Santos, whose suggestions of Yanhua and Duli were chosen as the winners by zoo officials. Santos pointed out that "Yanhua," is Chinese for "fireworks" and "Duli," is Chinese for "independence." Since the panda cubs were born on the Fourth of July, the suggestions seemed apropos.

Tamblin Williams and six-month cub Jagger, National Park Seaview Lion Park, Port Elizabeth, South Africa .. Tamblin raised a lion cub, abandoned by their parents. Every day she fed him, played with him, and grown up lion cub still does not depart from it.
