@Irishk,
Radiation! OMG, that poor baby. I hope her side effects are mild and short-lived. Oy. Maybe they shoulda just let her drool. Oy.

That's what I was thinking, too. I can't figure out if the radiation was to treat the drooling or the resultant infection, though. Probably the former since really strong antibiotics could probably knock out the infection.

Who said you could take my picture, huh?!?!?
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01969/lion-camera_1969370i.jpg
A lion decides he's had enough of being photographed - and tries to steal a photographer's camera. The lion and his pride had been followed by a film crew in Okavango Delta, Botswana, for days - and obviously decided it was time to have his turn behind the camera. The lion broke away from the pride and ran up to the camera before trying to drag the camera and tripod away. The photo was taken by British photographer and tour guide John Sobey, who runs horseback safaris for photographers throughout Botswana. He said: "He had a good look down the lens and we watched, amazed. It was only when he decided to try and bite them camera that the film crew got worried, and shouted at the lion, scaring him away."

This labrador remains thoroughly unimpressed as a praying mantis performs a dramatic dance right under its nose. The female mantis waved her arms and performed a jig but labrador retriever Winston refused to stir. Photographer Scott Cromwell grabbed his camera to capture the moment his pets had a stand-off on the carpet of his front room in Oklahoma.

@hingehead,
Irish, Can you guess which of the pictures you posted I like the best? Yes, it's the mantis-lab pic. I love that little bug trying to show off. The lion-camera photo is also wonderful. I posted a few pictures over the past few months that showed animals finding and "dealing with" wildlife photographers' cameras. The baby lions and the mother dog is another winner. I wonder if the lions have contact with the dog after they grow up. And the lion/cub picture is beautiful. Thanks for them all.

hingehead, Ah, the elusive snow leopard, all snowy. And the not-so-elusive mandarin duck, all ducky. The baby zebra picture is a gem. And the fauna from down under is wonderful. A very relaxed kangaroo and two very young and cute platypi.

What an array today. You guys are da best.
