These Madison Square Park birds aren't very exotic but it's interesting seeing them take collective dust baths, (something not easily captured via the cheap camera).

@PennyAroundTheWorld,
They are sparrows aren't they? Sometimes in Oz we have british bird names for birds that aren't actually the same - Magpies for example.

A young red-tailed hawk shows off its skills as it plays with a tennis ball. Photographer Steve Shinn watched as the bird spent over an hour messing around with a discarded tennis ball in Huntington Beach, California. He almost didn't get the shots - as he was laughing too hard. He explains: "This stage of the young bird's life shows the rather gawky, awkward stage that they go through for the first few weeks after leaving the nest. At play they behave a lot like kittens and puppies. They will pick up some random piece of just about anything and do all sorts of very amusing stunts with them. One found a pine cone while another spent over an hour messing around with a discarded tennis ball which it hauled onto a picnic table. It appears to try crushing, eating, balancing and analysing the thing. Since these images are all taken with rather heavy, hand held equipment, I had to control my laughter to keep from blurring the images."

@Irishk,
osso, Great seals and swans.

dj, Wonderful bunnies. Yes, that otter has impressive canines. It's a predator. It's gotta have some kind of weapon.

Wish there was a video of the hawk trying to figure out the tennis ball. Speaking of videos and tennis balls, I posted this a few weeks ago. I think it's appropriate for a rerun now.
