@ossobuco,
A fine looking steed, kid. Bon chance.

Wild dogs run faster than foxes. In fact they run faster than most other animals.

They also look pretty good just sitting around.

In addition to speed, these animals have far more stamina than any feline--and most of their prey.

@Roberta,
Terrific ears those wild doggies have..

@Roberta,
Missed DJ's bunnies & otters too! Hope he's enjoying himself in the great Canadian north. Speaking of which, pic of baby elk tasting his first snowflake:

Quote:
This young bull elk (Cervus canadensis) seems fascinated by the falling snowflakes – not unlike a playful child revelling in a snowy day.

Through Exultant Ark Jonathan Balcombe makes the case that, although much of animal behaviour has come about as the result of evolutionary adaptation to serve a straightforwardly practical function, there are elements of play that require a more joyful explanation.

The book these pics come from sounds wonderful - will have to get it: http://www.newscientist.com/gallery/animals-having-fun/7

A cheeky polar bear sticks out her tongue at Amsterdam Zoo. Photographer Lars van de Goor said: "I was taking pictures of the animals and noticed this polar bear. I spent half an hour running from left to right, repositioning myself time and time again to get myself into the right position. Then she finally looked straight into my camera and stuck her tongue out."

@High Seas,
Gorgeous spectacular picture, High Seas. I mean stunning.

Irish, Love it. A bratty polar bear.

This animal looks speedy even when it's sitting down.

So I'm on my way back from hobbling an errand. I espy a very cute miniature schnauzer at the corner. I catch her eye. She gets excited as I approach. Her owner pulls her back. I ask why. She doesn't want the dog to bother me. Bother me! Not gonna bother me. Sophie and I bonded. Made my day. Decided to put off two ooky things until tomorrow. There's enough ook to go around.

Now I'm gonna go to sleep--officially.

A Labrador has become surrogate mother to two baby rabbits. Six-year-old Koa has taken the bunnies under her paw after they were found abandoned. Owner Tina Case, of San Francisco, explains: "A week after Easter, Koa was chasing a lizard outside our sun-room wall. The lizard landed on a pile of dirt where Koa discovered a little nest of wild bunnies...

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01902/rabbit-teacup_1902489i.jpg
"...My daughters discovered what Koa found: there were three little bunnies. They rushed one of the little rabbits to our neighbour, Dr. Dani Olsen, who is a vet. Unfortunately it did not survive. But the other two little bunnies have thrived under our daughters' care. Koa is like their surrogate mother. They hop all over her and always find their way to the crook of her leg and find warmth and shelter. Koa has never been a mother, so she thinks these are her little puppies. We plan on releasing the wild bunnies back into nature or give them to a nature reserve because they are so tame now."

Still lots of snow in Russia...
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01899/cat-fox_1899528i.jpg
A white cat called Sioma chases a fox away at a nature reserve guard post on the Kamchatka peninsula in far-eastern Russia. The fox approached the guard post warily and the pair circled each other for a while before the fox decided it had met its match and slunk off. Sergey Krasnoshchokov, who took the pictures, said: "Sioma has a strong character. I found that out the moment I tried to pat him and he started to bite me and hiss. Sioma has done some good things. Now there are no mice at the house at the guard post."

Irish, Great pics. Glad the bunnies found a mother, even it's a different species. LOVE the cat/fox pic. Beautiful.
