@dlowan,
Thanks, Deb. This reflects my perpetual dilemma with chocolate bunnies. What gets bit first--ears or tail.

I love the Marina suggestion (love Shakespeare too). Submit the idea with the poem. Who could resist?

@ossobuco,
Hey, li'l buddy: Governors Island, New York, is asking for the public's help in naming a calico that washed up on the island last weekend. Her fur was salty, matted and seaweed-caked, leading island workers to theorize that she swam over from New Jersey, more than a mile away. Among the submissions so far are Nori, Taffy, Purrmaid, Gilligan and Wilson.

As seen in this website - http://carinbondar.com/2010/11/this-weeks-cool-biology-job-sea-otter-population-ecologist/
"Imagine looking at these little faces every day…
The USGS is seeking a Sea Otter Population Ecologist and Modeler. This is a permanent position located in Santa Cruz, California." Well, that was back in November - job's probably filled by now.

@djjd62,
They always make me laugh. There's a crew of them up somewhere around san francisco that people have complained about. I forget why - maybe they eat all the kelp or something.

Ah, I see - it's about the protected species of sea otters having a good time with the shellfish and sea urchin industries:

Love the bunnies and the otters. No such thing as too many otters, unless they're living with you in a studio apartment.

I'm still pining for that cat. It's got lots of personality.

Not finished with the tanagers. This is one spectacular group of birds. Here's the speckled tanager:

We didn't hear from Barry. I know that for most of you, it isn't time for a g'night. For me it is, and I couldn't resist this pic:

Thinking for the calico's name - Governor. I know the cat's a she, but now we have female governors..

Ah, now I see they are going to pick a few of the most popular names and put them up for a vote, presumably on the Governors Island Foundation website.

@djjd62,
dj, I agree with your question mark. Is that bunny wearing a fright wig? The otter looks mighty fine. Can't have everything.

If I could have a dog and my pic of the breed, this would be numero uno:

Second choice, samoyed:

Third choice, mutt:

@MontereyJack,
You sure that wasn't a puddle of Italian espresso coffee the elk was jumping (and perhaps drinking from) around in?

@MontereyJack,
tsar, Love dat mutt face too. I also love the fox kits. More great faces.

MJ, Somebody should introduce the elk to the otter. Perfect aquatic playmates. Loved that video, kid. Thanks.

I had a big argument with my mother. I wanted one of these in our tenement in the Bronx. She said no. What a hard-ass she was.

Here's a beautiful big guy getting a bit of revenge saying "Stop sticking those things in my skin.THEY HURT!"....

Matador from Arles, Tomasito, is gored by a Garcigrande's bull during the Arles Feria Bullfighting Festival (Feria de la Pentecote), on April 22, 2011 in the Arles Arena. Bullfighting was declared a part of the immaterial cultural heritage of France on April 22, 2011 by the French culture minister, a recognition which was deeply denounced by the national anti-bullfighting Alliance.
