I saved their photos, but can't remember if this one is Dora or Diego. Just look at that face, though! I think they were born in February. First ones in over 10 years!

@Barry The Mod,
tsar, Glad you like the bird. Tanagers are spectacular. One after the other. All beautiful. The red is especially appealing, I think.

dj, The bunny in the pot surpasses cute. We're getting to a whole new level here. I'm not worried it's in a pot. The second bunny is a beauty. The otter pic reminds me that otters are wild predators. Look at those teeth.

Irish, Two breathtaking photos--the stork on the chimney and the herons in midair. Wow. Also the little wolves ain't bad either. What faces.

k, Glad to hear that the sharks are not bothered by the spines or the venom. Of course, that's what the scientists say. What do the sharks have to say? We'll never know. Thanks for the eagle nesting site. I'll have to look after sun-up.

edgar, Such a sweetie. Thanks mucho.

Barry, I watched a video of Sarbi getting her medal. Amazing story. Thanks. Also thanks for the new-level cute g'night pic.

A young squirrel gently holds the stem of a dandelion and sniffs the flower. Photographer Ken Haley took the picture in his back garden at his home in Eugene, Oregon. He said: "I had never seen a squirrel doing that, and I knew I had captured a special image. I think this is a young squirrel which may be sniffing the dandelion to see if he wanted a quick snack. But in this case, after holding it for a few seconds, he let go and went off to look for something else to eat."

@Irishk,
dj, Thanks for the link to Gracie. What a cutie, especially with the toy mouse. Let me get this straight. The bunny, disguised as a frog, is playing the keyboard?! Love the otter. Great alert face.

Irish, The squirrel pic is a treasure. Sigh. The boid pic is a different kind of a treasure. Relax lady, it's just a boid. I remember when my parakeet used to land on my head. She liked yanking on hair. I was unfazed. Thanks for both pics.

Speaking of avians in the parrot family, here are hyacinth macaws:

@Roberta,
Roberta, I can see the dinosaur lineage in that Sunbittern bird.

Dj? In some countries, that bunny frog costume would be considered a war crime. I do too. Someone should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for this heinous act against rabbithood kind. Mad

Irishk, it's good to know that some squirrels have refined taste. He's a foodie! Very Happy

On March 16th, a healthy baby Giraffe was born at the Shanghai Zoo, their second calf of 2011. Since she was born on a bright cloudless day, keepers named the calf "Sunny," making her the second baby at the zoo with an English name. Perhaps due to her particularly tall father, Sunny measured an impressive 194 cm when she stood up shortly after birth.

@Irishk,
I was just looking between Sunny's ears. Are those horns? Will they straighten out as she gets older?

@Izzie,
tsar, The minute I read that you could see dinosaur lineage in the sunbittern, a small lightbulb (maybe only 25 watts) went off in my head. You're right. That bird has reptilian characteristics--with its wings out and when they're folded close to the body. You hawkeye you.

Irish, Little Sunny is a beauty. Wecome to the world (such as it is), Sunshine.

Arella Mae, Answers to your questions: yes and yes. The horns are still soft and rounded from the baby being in the womb.

dj, I don't think bunnies really know about or care about damning evidence. Hey, bunny. What you been eating? A cutie. I totally agree with you about the otter--smug.

Hiya Iz, Thanks for the glorious pictures. You been hanging out with owls and otters? Beauties all. Is that yellow eye the eye of a wolf? Love that dog face.
