The castle grounds are beautiful, Walter, and so is the bird. Thanks.

Here are two more avian beauties.

One place says this is a Bali mynah; another says it's a Bali starling. Whichever it is, it's from Bali, and it's endangered:

A snake from Bolivia, discovered only recently. I had some trouble finding the name of the snake. I think it's a tomodon, a coluber.

I looooooove herons. We've many, many, many of them in California...

One of my favorite photos by me - who knows where it is now - is of a large number of snowy egrets in and on a blooming Erythrina caffra tree.
I'll just show a typical blooming Erythrina here, and leave the bird group to your imagination...

Some Erythrinas here (E. coralloides, in this case, I think) -

That viscacha is quite a sight, looks a tad fictional...

Thanks for the loverly pics, Osso. I don't know why white birds are so appealing. They just are.

As for the viscacha, what can I tell ya. Real. A member of the chinchilla family. The one in the photo is a mountain viscacha. Here's a plains viscacha:

Both of these are from Bolivia. Unfortunately, the site doesn't say what they are. C'est la vie.

I was looking for a Gabon viper. Found this instead. Couldn't resist. The viper will show up eventually.
