I tried to post this before, but a2k was having a burping session.

It's a photo by Pitter. You'll find the thread if you search for Steely vented
as the key word.

How I envy you all those birds right in your own neck of the woods. They're truly beautiful.

Yep, I've saved most of the pics that Pitter has posted, including this one. He has such a good eye.

the nearby town is the site of crow roost (i always thought it was called a rook, but all the literature i was searching used roost), if your near the area at twilight when they come in for the night it's amazing, ten's of thousands of crows blacking out the sky

a couple of year old survey put the populatiin in the county at near 125,000, it's believed this was due to the destruction of another roost in a neighbouring county

holy moley, djjd, That's a lot of crows. They're smart and bold. Did I mention that that's A LOT of crows?

Found a couple more bugs to add. the first is a damselfly:

The second is a harlequin bug:

And I'm throwing in a bunny--just because.

THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience)
By William Blake
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Harlequin bug... that looks like the beauty that was on my swiss chard... and .... that looks like a swiss chard leaf. So, now I know it's common name.

osso, I hope the bug left some chard for you.

Every time I come here (or anywhere on a2k) you get to see a cheetah's face. Here's one on the move.

And this is a caracal. These cats are amazing leapers. They can catch birds out of the air.
