@Roberta,
One can see why so many ancient cultures deemed them members of the heavenly classes (therefore deities of the natural world).

Foxes are quite beautiful.

@tsarstepan,
I agree, tsar. Here's another--the Arctic fox. A true stunner:

Fennec, the smallest of all the foxes. Lives in the desert. The big ears help keep it cool.

@Roberta,
Do you see the ground nest in the upper left corner of the photograph? Where the great and endangered tennis court vulture laid it's egg?
Laughing

I wonder if this desert fox is a stuffed exhibit in a museum. If this is that kind of exhibit then why does it have a tennis ball in the exhibit as well? I suppose it's in a zoo perhaps?

@tsarstepan,
Perhaps the true reason it has big ears is so it can hear the "out" call in time.

So pretty!

This white duck was snapped coming in to land yesterday against the snow - and all that can be seen are its orange beak and legs and its two black eyes. Photographer and artist Robert Fuller was out near his home in Yorkshire when he spotted the mallard.

What an intriguing looking little bird. Kind of like a chicken with that crown and what beautiful wings.

@Roberta,
A friend of mine took this picture in England. I told her I was stealing it so I could post it here for you.

@Arella Mae,
You need an alibi for this alleged theft of this photograph?

These Macaroni penguins seem to be skiing across a glacier in South Georgia in the southern Atlantic...

...However, these are no ski bums; instead they're off to stock up on food after a mammoth babysitting session. After fasting for up to 42 days these Macaroni penguins are taking a run down to the ocean in order to fatten up once again. Macaroni Penguins spend the vast majority of the year at sea, only coming ashore in order moult or mate.

Arella Mae, I can't condone thievery. On the other hand, thanks for the pic. It's a wonderful bird.

tsar, Lovely bears. Dem polar bears sure a photogenic.

Irish, Glorious photos. I knew that penguins endured great hardship to take care of their young. I didn't know they skied.

Ionus, You're not the only entity on the planet who can't ski. I tried. I really tried.

From one of my favorite places (the Bronx Zoo), a mother and baby lemur:
