The stag is beautiful. Thank you, cj.

littlek, loved those photos. Especially the bee eaters and the croc tail. (Dont be surprised if you see a bee eater here.)

C.I., Thanks for the wonderful photos. You're fortunate to be able to travel and capture moments on film.

Roberty, I know that I'm very fortunate to be able to travel as freqently as I do. I still take many pictures, but quit making photo albums, because they just accumulate with nobody to look at them. I do make hard copies for friends, and share them on the net.

Here is a series of short videoclips of a flying snake--Chrysopelea sp. in action. If you stop some of the clips in mid-action you'll be able to see a definite dorsal-ventral flattening of the snake. This website is taken from my previous thread.

Coluber, My computer doesn't do all that well with video. However, the written commentary that went along with each clip was enlightening. A while back I posted a photo (fairly close up) of one of the snakes in midflight. It was possible to see how part of its body was flattened to enable it to glide a bit. Fascinating adaptation. (I love this stuff.)

Another fascinating (to me) among snakes is coloring imitation. (Don't know the technical term for it.) A coral snake, very venomous, with coloring to say, "Stay away."

King snake (just looks dangerous):

And then there are sea snakes (kraits) whose bodies have evolved to accommodate a life in the water (their back ends have flattened and serve as paddles):

The photo is labeled sea snake, and the site was about sea snakes. Doesn't mean it isn't an eel. Unfortunately, all the photos I found that I was sure were sea snakes didn't show the flattened part.

BTW, I forgot to add this about coral snakes and king snakes. How can you tell which one is dangerous? "Red next to yellow, kill a fellow. Red next to black, a friend to Jack."

Speaking of Jack, here's jack rabbit:
