When I lived in the Upper East Side, I knew of two of these types of dogs. Both girls. One named Diane and the other I think I remember was Daisy.

One was a member of Biscuits and Bath where I used to work. Great dog though she was a grumpy loner and didn't want to deal with the other dogs. And she had a terrible habit of eating other dog's p**p. Also, she was kind of touched in the head.

@tsarstepan,
tsar, A meshugina griffon. There's one in every pack. I'm amazed that I've never encountered one of these as I walk around the city. I've seen some unexpected breeds, but never one of these guys. Something to look forward to.

Ran into two basenjis in the drug store across the street. Got so excited, I became instant friends with the owner and the dogs. Gorgeous:

I don't believe that those ducklings fell through the grate. The holes are too small, from what I can tell, unless they were shoved through.

Larry, the feistiest of the young hawks nesting in Cambridge near Fresh Pond, takes his first flight today.... Onlookers had to save him after he landed on the very busy street. From the pictures, it looks like they herded him somewhere safer.

His siblings watch how it's done.

littlek, I choose to agree with you about the ducklings.

Wonderful hawk pics. I've been watching falcons nesting, hatching, and getting ready for flight. That first step is a doozy. Glad Larry is OK.

Meal times can be a strenuous affair no matter what size your brood is, but spare a thought for the long-tailed tit captured on camera feeding her eleven chicks at the RSPB’s Fairburn Ings nature reserve this week

Wonderful, wonderful picture, olga. But that poor mama looks about done in. How many woims can one little boidy supply. And these kids. Will they call? Will they write? Will they send a caterpillar on mother's day?

I hope that little lady survives.

Holy mole - 11 babies all at once?

More baby birds.... Bald eaglets being raised in West Newbury get tagged. As the article says, these are city birds - they live in a fairly populated region, but they have access to the Merrimack. West Newbury is near the coast in the northern most part of MA. The Merrimack River is one of the enablers of the American Industrial Revolution.

I would not want to be on the business end of this young bird.

@Roberta,
You are trying to dissemble me, aren't you? What's the deal, are baby goats or lambs cuter? (not that I showed lambs recently). This one is a point for goats, which after all are very clever. Ok, I'll pick goats..
