@Roberta,
The poor thing needs cosmetic surgery for her nose. But don't tell it straight to her face, I bet she's a tad self conscious.

philis, Very, very cute. What is it?

Roberta it is a hedgehog baby. We have some in our neighborhood. I have seen the mom and babies trailing behind.

Thanks, philis. I should have known that. I've seen hedgehog babies before.

@tsarstepan,
Jumping spiders are extremely common in the U.S. and most look like tiny tarantulas. They are completely harmless and are some of the most endearing of the spiders. Go to this page and scroll down for some really cute shots of jumping spiders: http://able2know.org/topic/23556-2

The look on its face you would think it had never had its picture taken before. Can you imagine its teeth ? It could gnaw away for hours and leave you with an itch.

@Roberta,
I just heard a bird in my chimney singing, "pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty". I immediately went to locate a bird that makes that lovely song and found that it's a cockateil. Wow!

@Letty,
dys and Diane have a cockatiel named Fred. Fred says, "Hi Fred" a lot. Cockatiels are wonderful birds. Thanks, Letty.

Wonderful, gorgeous pics, k. Thanks for sharing them with us. I selected the hippo mother and child without even realizing it was mother's day. Great theme.

Red River Hog piglets Sammi and Becca play alongside their mother Belle during a photocall at their enclosure in the Edinburgh Zoo on Sept. 17. The Red River Hogs have been at the zoo since 2004 but the arrival of the two piglets, who were born on August 14, is the first time they have bred successfully. Red River Hogs are found throughout western and central Africa living in wet habitats like swamps and marshes.
