@Letty,
Whippet's are adorable though they tend to be on the neurotic side (the poor little nervous wrecks)!

@Letty,
Yes, Letty. Of course I know about whippets. Very swift. Not related to greyhounds.

@djjd62,
Grackle's are stunning looking birds djjd! I love their classy style feathers. Always dressed up for formal dinners and such events.

Roberta? That aardwolf looks like his species suffers from the pinhead disorder of the animal kingdom.

@Roberta,
Aardwolf? Gotta look that aardy up...

Here's some takes from the SF Chronicle's Day in Pictures.

First, un ferret -

with the SFgate comment - Your paw says 'oh hai,' but your face says 'halp!' What we need here is a good Chinese-to-Lolspeak dictionary. (Ferret for sale, Shanghai Pet Fair.)

and now a baby elephant -

Photo: Bobby-Jo Vial / Taronga Zoo

The SFgate comment - Zoo welcomes baby procrastinator: After a protracted, six-day labor, this calf was believed to have died in the womb of his mother, Porntip, at Sydney's Taronga Zoo. On Wednesday, he finally arrived, surprising veterinarians and zoo staff.

Next, air theft -

Comment - Fly-by robbery: A hawk tries to steal a meal from the beak of a crow near Tibani, Georgia.

Thaaaat's all, folks.

Hey, RH. Is there some kinda picture with red lights in your post? I don't see nuttin'. Sigh.

Osso, Thanks for the ferret and the baby pachyderm. OK not in a hurry to get born. The midflight theft must have happened before or after the picture was taken. Two nice birds in flight, though.

dj, Grackles are not totally unfamiliar to me. We have them here. Love to see them mixed in with the piges.
