Tres cool, dj. I did a bit of reading about them. They have long tongues and are one of the few animals that can clean its own ears with its tongue. Why it would want to is another matter.

Wow, Jes. That's a long tongue!
C.I., Thanks. I read about this. A rottweiler pup and a feline adopted mother. Nice to see a photo.

I have to say, I truly love this topic -- if you don't mind, I'm gonna shamelessly steal the idea and post a flowers and plants topic -- I figure the other half of pets & garden should get some press.
Mind? I'm thrilled. I know a lot less about flowers and plants than I do about animals. But I'll hunt around for pictures and maybe learn something.

Speedy and sleek--the blue shark:
Also speedy (the second-fastest land mammal) but not quite so sleek, the pronghorn antelope:

Excellent antelope.
The polar bears are soooooooooo wonderful.
The blue shark, I should apologize - I dissected a shark once, though not that kind. I gather they dissect more now via techie moves... but if one has any plans to be a surgeon, I think one needs to do at least some of it.

I agree about the antelope. They're more nimble than they look, and they have some stamina, unlike other fast animals.
As for the shark, they're interesting inside and out. I believe that they're being studied because they don't get cancer.
