oh TC - look at those little ones - that duckling......... awwwwwwww
well... we have a visitor
LOOKY HERE............... The Easter Bunny ...
Oh, bless this little critter. My farmer neighbour brought this little critter to me to look after " it looks as tho his paw is broken and the birds have been pecking him " he was on the road. The farmer didn’t want to leave him so put him back in the field by a rabbit hole, but the wee fella was all over the place so.... he brought him to Chez Izzie about an hour ago. I don’t think he’ll last the nite " but.... well, he’s in the cat box in the quiet and dark right now, and if he goes to Bunny heaven " at least he’ll have had a chance. If he does last the nite " mmmmmmmmmmm.... dunno what I’ll do then " think we may have to adopt him. After all, he is the Easter Bunny
He’s quite alert, can jump around, but his left paw doesn’t work at all and he’s bleeding from his head in 3 places. Oh bless him.... he is so tiny, a verra baby bunny.
<I know I know.... I should let nature takes it’s course.... but.... he’s got a slight chance this way " maybe he’ll be OK a?>

Nature shmature. Can you take the bunny to the vet? Cute as the dickens.
well, if he survives the nite - which I'm not sure he will - I have a friend coming over in the morning who owns a pet shop and will have a better idea of what to do with him - at the least, we can get a hutch/run temporarily. It's Good Friday tomorrow so the vet is closed - emergency vet prolly wouldn't take a baby wild rabbit, I believe they would say just to put him back in the field, but if they did do something, I think they may just keep him comfortable, or put him to sleep. The wounds don't look too too serious (magpies were pecking him - ack) but his paw is definitely not right and I reckon the vet could splint that, if they would (doubtful tho). He can weight bear on it - so I guess he may have been born with a dodgy foot - heh - he's come to the right place a? We do bionic feet in this house
If he makes it thru the nite - will call them in the morning and see what they say.
Rapa Nui. If he lives, perhaps you can name him that.
Pulling for the lil guy.

we get a few bunnies around our place, a few springs back the neighborhood feral cats got to one of the little fellows and beat him up pretty bad, i knew it was not going to survive, but made it as comfortable as possible and buried him in the garden
this fellow looks to be in much better shape than my poor fellow, hopefully it will pull through, it couldn't ask for a better caregiver

In keeping with the baby theme (chick, duckling wabbit), I thought I'd add another baby--puma (cougar, mountain lion):
So - here is the bubba bunny after his overnite stay...
he's been pecked on the top of his head and his left side...
he comes out for a hobble - his left paw is definitely dodgy
then he sits - just for a little bit and then goes back into the cat box
he's tried to eat some dandelions and I've cleaned up his wounds with some boiled water and cotton wool..... yeah yeah yeah.... it's a wabbit..... but for now he's a guest and I don't like cacky blood on my guests faces when I am looking after them!!!! He's been sitting inside my fleece under my arm - just sits there nice and snuggled, tries to go up my sleeve - will see how he goes for a couple days and then if all is coco - will take him back up to the field he was found by and let him go <awwwwwwwwwwwww....sob>
We were going to sex it - but did you know, wabbits willy's are inside and you have to squidge them... errrrrrr..... you know.... in the nether regions.... to see if something pops out! Ahem, will just go with the fact he's a bubba bunny and leave his privates.....private!

Izzie, Glad the little cutie made it through the night. If he's operating on only three feet, he's as good as gone in the wild. I'm worried--from afar. Is there some organization that takes in wild orphans? Injured animals? OK. I'll be quiet.
Hey hey - nah, don't think anywhere would take a wild rabbit - BUT.... the good news is - he's weightbearing on his left paw - yesterday, you can see in the pics how is paw is turned underneath - but today he's definitely putting weight on it........... not sure he will last the nite again - he's not eating or drinking - have put grass and carrots and dandelions in and some water on a little tiny bowl - he's been very alert today and was running around earlier when the farmer came round... gonna keep him for a few days and see how he goes.
Will put him in the conservatory for a run around tomorrow and take a video of him and post so you can see how he's doing. Fingers crossed for overnite. He's so tiny.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......... big zzzzzz's

As long as we've got bees, why not a boid. Here's an American robin--to me the absolute sign of spring.
Oh my - your robins are verra different to ours, aren't they? He looks quite a big handsome fella - glad spring is springing
Wabbit has done well overnite and is eating and drinking. I rang the vet. They say if I can hold onto him over the weekend and see how he goes, it would alright to take him into them next week and they can give me their opinion as to whether he could be re-released into the wild. So if the vet reckons he would have as good a chance as a wegular wabbit............... then that's what I'll do - if not......... one of the vets could take him as they have verra baby bunnies they are hand rearing (2 hourly feeds on lactol ) - but our Way2KWabbit is doing fine on solids already - or.......... looks like we may gain a permanent lawn mowing composting little 3+dodgy-pawed furry-footed fella!!!!!!
Well, they say that a rabbit's foot brings good luck - guess he was brought to us for a reason a?

Glad you like the robin, Izzie. And glad that the wabbit is doing well. Nice to hear that the vet might help. If one rabbit's foot is good luck, you wabbit has four! Quadruple good fortune.
