@Izzie,
Hi, Izzie.

All Roberta's photos can be clicked on and the url found for where she got the photo, that's a kind of attribution. For example, on Roberta's first post on this thread: http://www.hummingbirds.net/images/oomen1.jpg - you know that's from www.hummingbirds.net.

Your images when clicked on show your photobucket site as the url.
I don't know if Robert's photo was from his own flicker site or someone else's, but I'm thinking it is like Roberta's and most of our photo urls, the site where he saw the photo.

I don't say that no such attribution is "wrong", and I certainly wasn't meaning for folks to stop posting photos.
I would, though, be pissed if I had my own photographs online that could be found, say, at google images, and saw them in some online forum as from someone else's photobucket site, without reference to my image website.
It isn't hard to say "photo from www.hummingbirds.net".
I'm sure I'm not all so perfect in this - I'm just saying it can matter to some photographers to have the website attributed, if not their own name.
JPB

Izzie, Insects. Beautiful. You take a mighty fine picture, there, kiddo. Give Maddie a scritch behind the ears for me.

osso, I rarely go to a site to get a picture. I go to Google. I enter the kind of animal I'm looking for. I click on "images," and I get a zillion pictures to choose from. I have no idea who took 'em or where they're from. Some have identifying info in the URL. Some don't. I just want a nice picture.

So I'm watching a show on one of the nature networks. It's about boids and how various plane designers are trying to duplicate the flight of various birds in the design of their planes. One of the designs is supposed to replicate the flight of a peregrine falcon, first when it's flying and then in a swoop (200 mph dive). Yes, the wings of the plane will move! I'm sure that test pilots are lining up around the block for this one.

I wanted to show a falcon swooping. The only thing I could find is below. It's the right wing formation for a swoop, but falcons don't swoop sideways (that I know of). They swoop down. Still, it's not a bad picture of a spectular boid.

Beauties, Izzie. Thanks, as always. I especially like the orang utans and the last little monkey. I'm a primate fan.

I'm so enamoured of that baby gorilla that I'm not sure I want to add anything.

Yeah, I'll add something.
