Thanks, hamburger for the bee and the beautiful flowers. (What are they?)

I was looking for wildlife photos. Nothing in particular. Found these.

Tigershark, I've seen that photo before. It's one of my favorites. Thanks for reminding me.

The red pandas look sort of like corgi puppies (you know me, I do this kind of stretch). Love 'em.

In today's LA Times regional photos: A nesting western sea gull is on patrol on Anacapa Island. Get too close to the nest, and the mama gull will protest loudly. Each year, chicks hatch by the thousands on the islands off Southern California.

osso, I agree. The reflection is perfect.

I admit that the fawn/squirrel picture kind of surprised me. I don't think of different species having much to do with each other in nature other than in symbiotic relationships or as predator and prey. But why wouldn't a fawn be curious about a squirrel and vice versa? Just plain curious.

alex, Wow. You must have some kind of fancy camera to get such a shot. Is that honey or pollen on that busy bee?

Hello Roberta. I do not own a digital camera. I usually get my pictures from flickr.com. One of these days, I have to take the time, and purchase one.

alex, I misunderstood. Thought you were snapping a picture of a bee. One of these days . . . Thanks for the raptor and raptorettes. After having followed a peregrine falcon family from eggs to flight (via camera), I have to say that raptor babies leave something to be desired in the cute department. However, they make up for this when they grow up. Not so much cute as spectacular in the air.

And now land birds--ostriches (male and female):

Check out the link about the rescue of a young Orca in my town this weekend just gone. The slide show of 'reader's photos' is quite interesting:

Tigershark, Poor little girl. Send her over here. She can stay in my bathtub.

littlek, Love dem boids. You saw ospreys fledge? Wow. I once saw an actual osprey in the actual flesh when I was sailing off the coast of Maine. And for my own personal wildlife siting here in the Big Apple: I saw a pigeon feather on the sidewalk on my way to the supermarket! You're green with envy. I can feel it.

From yesterday's SF Chronicle's Day in Pictures (DIP), a gorgeous condor in a troubled situation -

http://imgs.sfgate.com/n/pictures/2008/07/04/condors14.jpg

Quoting..
Blaze routs condors: California condor No. 94 takes off from a ledge near closed Highway 1 in Big Sur. Endangered condors tried to avoid smoke from the massive Big Sur wildfire by taking refuge in cliffs along the Pacific. Scientists were mourning the loss of a 2-month-old chick that died when the fire swept through a gorge, burning the 1,000-year-old redwood it was nesting in.
