Hey, Roberta, how did you like that funky bird I posted yesterday?

I think it had stripes or something, but I thought it was kinda neat-looking.

alex, On the one hand, beautiful picture. On the other hand, are these two bugs doing what I think they're doing? Is there no privacy? Cameras are EVERYWHERE.

mesquite, The kestrel photo reminds me of a day back in the sixties. I was living in da Bronx with my parents. I had three parakeets. Melvyn, Bambi, and Snow. One night at dinner, Melvyn mounted Bambi. They looked like smaller, pastel-colored versions of the birds in your pic. My mother had a fit. "No more boids!"

The woodpeckers--looks like one is feeding the other.

And what are these boids doing on the cacti? Ouch and a half.

Roberta, the caption that Susan Beebe put with the photo was 'Daddy' Gila Woodpecker feeding his baby son. She called the baby a son because she had seen a spot of red on it's head identifying it as a male.

The parent is on the cactus and the baby is inside it. Woodpeckers like to build their nests in the Saguaro cactus. So much so that it is hard to find a Saguaro without woodpecker holes in it. One in my front yard has seven such holes though only one seems to be occupied.

Here is another of Susan's photos showing the baby peering out of it's nest.

O.k. people. I didn't have my glasses on when I posted the picture titled "holding hands" of the two butterflys. No need to continue the pictures along the lines of breeding.

Hiya alex, Only once before was a picture posted of shtupping. Two bugs. A lovely shot. I can't control what others post. As for me, I'll try to behave myself.

mesquite, Sorry I missed your post on the feeding. A number of bird species seem to like cactus. I'm sure it's because cactus probably keeps predators at bay. How the birds remain unharmed is an avian mystery. Well, maybe not a mystery, but I don't know, so it's a mystery to me.

Tigershark, The photo keeps disappeareing into a little red X (on my computer), but I followed the link to the photo. Great. Two lions in love.

osso, Thanks, bubbele, for the fantastic photo and the name of a new photographer. I'm always on the lookout.
