We all miss the quagga, gus. Life is harder. Extinction is harder.

mesquite, Beautiful photos. Beautiful boids. Thanks.

jes, Wonderful shot. Thanks.

Hey, this is the 2000th post. Whoda thunk.

This thread is a port in a storm for me. I can always find peace looking for pictures and looking at those of others. Thanks to everybody for contributing or commenting or just looking.

Roberta, after the severe lecture I received from you some time back because of my posting of an image of a decaying animal, I have turned my life around and am now posting only images of "Beautiful Animals"

Just as you requested.

gus, I have no recollection of lecturing you. Not saying I didn't do it. Just saying it's gone from my memory bank. Glad about the uplifting result. That picture is spectacular. Yes, I can almost feel the speed. Was I chasing that speedy little sucker across the desert of Africa? Don't remember that either.

c.i., Thanks again for posting. There can never be too many birds.

Thanks for the kind words, mesquite--and the fine photo. Methinks that wolf has a "lean and hungry look." Love dem wolves.

I found this:

Japanese beetles have a curious, identifying defense: they lift their hind legs up in the air, even when simply approached. These hind legs are spiny, and the behavior is probably intended to ward off predators.

Don't know if it's the answer to your question, rosborne. I'm supposed to know about beetle legs?

jes, For you it's the start of a day. For me, it's the end--the last thing I do (usually) before I shut down for the night is hunt and post. Thanks for that grackle.

Hey reg, Have you been following me around with a camera? Definitely get that intense and focused look when I'm close to something good. Page-not-found-error-message face just about right too. The only thing missing from that is the foul language that accompanies search annoyances.

I'm a bad, but fast, puddy tat.

This is just a stab in the dark, but I believe they do it because they can do it. I wish I was limber enough to do it without breaking a hip.

I all-of-a-sudden want a shiba inu. The feeling will pass. Here's a pic. Not the best to show off the breed, but I like the picture.

I don't all-of-a-sudden want a German shepherd. I've ALWAYS wanted a German shepherd. The feeling won't pass. I'll just have to live with it.
