Big Night was the movie I immediately thought of when I saw the title of this thread.
And...... what's the name of the movie with canabalism in the deli....? Ah! Delicatesan! (I can't make that word LOOK right.)
Okay, you people are getting vaguely perverted in here with "Silence of the Lambs," et al. And if there's anything I hate more, it's vagueness.
Like Water for Chocolate. The book was even better with real recipes.
And, what was that movie where a woman fakes an orgasim over a salad? Another woman says, "I'll have whatever she's having."
Hahaha. So funny!
There's a sexy scene form 9 1/2 weeks where the couple raids the refrigerator. She has her eyes closed and he feeds her.
Cook thief etc... makes me think of the punchline of A Boy and His Dog.
Billy Wolf - 'Eating Raoul'
Dupre - 'When Harry Met Sally'
Personally, I never 'got' any Greenaway film....and the ones I have seen I would not watch again.
It's cav's thread. If he says no Greenaway, it's no Greenaway.
Y'hear?!
Hey, if anyone can explain it to me, go for it....I'm all ears.
I liked 'Vatel', anyone see it?
"Tampopo" - one of the earliest Japanese language films I saw. Great!
Eat Man Drink Woman
Love You To Death (OK, may be a stretch to call this a food movie, but Jes used Annie Hall!)
Let It Snow (great sleeper; he's a chef, and slums as a lousy caterer)
Chocolat
Eating Raoul (porno and cannabalism, two thumbs up...)
The Four Seasons (they cooked...)
Definitely agree about Tampopo. A delightful movie.
Four bowls of noodles bottoms up!
Moonstruck
Mystic Pizza
and my favorit... just before the intermission
"I swear as God is my witness I'll never eat turnips again!"

yeah, that was a goooooood one! recall she was also blindfolded at the time?
Rocky Horror Picture Show. Meatloaf again...
Babette's Feast, good movie, but hard to love.
Big Night, wonderful, wonderful movie about food and family.
Bread and Chocolate, have seen it four or five times, exquisite effort by Nino Manfredi to peel an orange
Like Water for Chocolate, good movie, but also didn't quite love it.
Tampopo, terrific, a favorite.
Down and Dirty, italian film with Nino Manfredi again, family trying to kill him with spaghetti.
Never have seen Chocolat.
Yea, the lobsters in Annie Hall.
Garlic, a short by Les Blanc
Troppo Oregano, another short.
I know I am forgetting some...
Oh, yes, the scene in Tom Jones wowed me at the time.
In The Apartment (1960), Jack Lemmon plays a bachelor who in one bittersweet scene is shown preparing his own meal within the confines of a tiny kitchen. It is a crucial scene which underscores the loneliness of his character which unfolds as this film progresses.
