what do you people think of the boom and bust with home prices? how bad has it affected your area? I've seen some homes
in crappy neighborhoods spike up two to three times in value about a year or so ago...

Prices in New York City are flat to slightly lower than six months ago.

Yeah. The shack I turned down at 45,000 three years ago has crashed to about 55,000.

Homes in my area appreciate about 4.5% each and every year.
No end in sight ~ New homes are popping up all over the area.

It's totaly dependent on geography. Where I live, home prices are relatively stable. We did feel the effects of the housing run up, but not to the extent the more populated areas did. Right now home sales and new home starts are down, but not so much that it is affecting home prices very much.
