Cowgirly, last year, the top 20 teams got notices the first week in April. I saw that Patee House, too. But didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling. Are you the one that had Salt Lake City Station? I went with Salt Lake House, a place where Pony Express riders could "stop" for the night. Plus it's just west of the Uinta Mts. Anyway, CG, I think you did quite well on your answers. At least I hope you did, because that would mean I did, too.

Nice fish Bigred.

The mister is a Ms. who has to go to her daughters Christmas party at school, so I don't have time, plus I'm kind of a private person. Tell ya what, if I come home from the ranch with nothing but souvenirs, I'll post all my answers. If I win the mill, I'll never tell.

I had Salt Lake Valley as my answer. I have a map showing that SL Valley is the next stop after Big Mountain Pass. Assuming, of course, that they are wanting the $5 per referring to the pioneers rather than the Pony Express.

If it's the Mormon Trek they are referring to, then the Salt Lake Valley as a whole would be the next stop.

Pony Express first charged $5, then reduced it to $1 for a 1/2 oz. letter. Salt Lake House was the next stop west of the mountains.

I put the "Grand Canyon" as my answer. When I googled Grand Canyon and beauty sleep together, I hit the jackpot with the movie "Sleeping Beauty," and the 29 minute academy award winning film short entitled "Grand Canyon."

I feel that Grand Canyon is the monumental hole in the ground, but it is referring to the movie title. Also, "Grand Canyon Suite" is the movie score for the movie Sleeping Beauty.

I'm sorry, misread this is for Clue #61

Actually it was Mountain Dell Station. The question asked " Name the next stop west on the other side of the mountains." Salt Lake House was at the bottom of the mountain, but the west side of the mountain begins at the summit. The next stop after the summit on the west side was MDS.

hi everyone. like so many i have been around since about page 20 of the original thread. after desertrat left i kinda backed off too.
looks like i am one of the oldest ones here. since a lady never reveals her age, i am 59. three kids, nine and a half grandkids.
have cried with you all and laughed with you all. wild bunch, no doubt about it. hope to meet some of you at the ranch.
have a couple answers that have not shown up anywhere. don't know whether that is a good thing or not.
#2 have Rocky Mountain Showdown - football clash between the two state colleges.
#14 since they asked for a name and not a number have The Lonliest Road in America
#21 went out on a limb here and settled on Passage Rock Petroglyph
#27 Salt Lake House
#32 found Point Richmond which seemed pretty good at the time...
#43 Southwest Brewing Company. their logo is a road runner
#71 stayed with the Lucky Penny Restaurant, but never liked it

wish everyone the best of luck. the biggest thing that has bothered me about this contest is that we will never know the correct answers...bummer

My "Shady Friend" you may be correct. Very Happy

Mountain Dell is still in the mountains (Parleys Canyon), and on the other side of the mountains is the Salt Lake Valley, which is still ON the mountain, but not IN the mountain. Did I make myself clear? LOL

Yeah I hear ya Cowgirly. I just don't read it the same as you do. I grew up in the mountains. When we ask which side are you on, we mean N, E, S, or W of the summit.
