Sorry I cant post pics(maybe some kind person will do it fo me)

I was browsing art on the net and saw a Waterhouse painting of his wife(I assume)called Ester Kenworthy Waterhouse.
I found it an amazing similarity to the woman featured in Degas L'Absinthe painting.
The same hat, very similar features, even tho they were painted 10 years apart.

Whadyathink?

She was a painter too. Here's the Wikipedia link on her -

Seems unlikely that she was a model for Degas.

The woman in the Dégas painting is the actress Ellen Andrée, the man Marcellin Desboutin, painter, engraver and, at the same time, celebrated Bohemian character.
The café where they are taking their refreshment is the Café de la Nouvelle-Athènes.

That caf´, by the way, was quite popular among the painters in Paris in those days ...

I used to love that painting.. had a poster of it on my wall when I was going to university. I still like it but have a thousand other "favorites" since.

Is the cafe still there? Have you been to it, Walter?
