it's fall in eastern ontario but there is still a fine display of colours in the garden . as long as we don't get any frost overnight , colours should persist for a while .
we have had some good showers lately and the lawn has recovered very well - even had to give it a trim today !

I asked my wife to water the plants while I was gone to Tunisia, and when I returned most of the plants were living! That gave me enough hope to go to the nursery yesterday to buy some flowers. I planted them in 80-degree heat, but I enjoyed the sweat and soil.

The three small pots contains plants received from Sglass and Merry Andrew, and they are thriving!

The mums are abundant this year - at the nursery and supermarkets. None in my yard - yet, but I'm procrastinating.

We don't do christmas trees any more; not since our children got old enough to "do their own" if they so desired. With no grandkids to spoil....

same here ; our trees are in the garden where we can enjoy them year-round - perhaps with some snow on them during the winter .

Nice pictures, guys!

Next door to us have got a maple, an acer which is just terrific at the moment with the morning sun shining through its leaves. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow morning, if it's sunny.

The Lack of enough rain over the past 12 monts is really beginning to impact.
My silver birch has died due to the drought last summer as did next doors desert ash. Both trees just never came back from winter dormancy. other side neighbour has another large tree (not sure what it is) is struggling to recover.

There was some white cat poo on the path of my front garden to greet me this morning. Lovely.

How do you know? Did you see the white cat? Maybe it was an albino badger.

This photo does not give a very good impression of the impact of this plant

Here are some photos from Dadpad's mum's garden, taken late yesterday. She's quite a gardener.

Mumpad - g'day! Some of your plants are common in the US (mountain laurel is one of my favorites). But I have no idea what plant that gorgeous peachy star shaped flower belongs to. Or the little daisy-like flowers either.

The little Magnolia bed I planted a couple of years ago is doing well. I added to it this summer which turned out to be a dry one, but the new plants seem to be surviving.

Here's a look at the fall colors

I thought that mondo grass was a boring little clump of a plant until I saw one in bloom. I bought it and tucked it in the garden to see what it'd do. It also has gorgeous berries!!

I just planted bulbs in my landlady's garden - snowdrops, daffodils, chionodoxa and some astilbe.

not much left in our garden ; several nights of just below freezing have put an end to the flowers , but picked some fresh parsley this morning for the scrambled eggs  .

offered a friend some hostas and "hen and chick" in exchange for some of her sedums . i've been invited to bring the spade and get some - should make a nice addition to our flowerbeds .
