Well......it's now a beautiful sunny morning, with just the hint of a breeze, so I've got my camera out and have snapped the "Jackmanii" Clematis, which is growing up through the wisteria on the front bay window of my house. It was planted in April of 2004, and is absolutely thriving.
Oh....and one of the cat, before I put the camera away.........
GOT IT!!
I was saving the images as a jpeg but tried a tif and it works! Just gotta get rid of the unnecessaries.
That's my show pony. We always put something special in this corner.
Oh what a sweet cat!!!!!! I adore calicos, especially calicos with white as a base color...
And that clematis is robust indeed, lovely color.
ABQ's monsoon season
Albuquerque's monsoon season has arrived.
I was driving home from a class Sunday and saw lightning bolts and heard thunder accompanied by heavy rain. I arrived home to find Maddy and Dolly had sense enough to get out of the rain under the overhang. Maddy quivers at the sound of thunder but Dolly doesn't seem to be bothered.
BBB
you're joking, right? Albuqueque gets alot of rain???
eoe - stunning garden! Congrats at getting the hang of the picture posting process.
Lord Ellpus, beautiful clematis. I have a thing for those vines. But, I like/have the lesser used varieties, Like Montana with it's smaller, light pink flowers that cover the vine and varieties with blue, yellow and pink nodding flowers.
And that cat! She's adorable.
Lord Ellpus, your clematis is gorgeous. We just planted one today and hope to put another one in within a few days. I love it when there is a mass of flowers. Do you ever put one blossom to float in a bowl of water? It is beautiful to see just one blossom displayed by itself.
Does you lovely cat like to play mighty hunter in the clematis vines? It looks like a purrrfect spot for a kitty to pretend he or she is a skilled, unbeatable hunter.
EOE, what a serene path. I wish we had room for a garden 'room' all to itself.
A bloom in a bowl of water.....what a good idea!
I am afraid that the cat (Muriel) has taken a shine to the cherry tree. She has already managed to snap two minor branches, and has chewed through the main stem of the Clematis that I had growing through the centre. It will come back next year.
As far as hunting is concerned, after being stung by a bee, she now gives them a wide berth, but has moved onto the frogs.
I keep pointing out the murderous Magpies that have nested over the back from us, but she is definitely into hopping things at the moment, and nothing will deter her from bopping them with a paw, in order to make them jump into the pond.
garden is doing splendidly. tomatoes have started to set, beans are beginning to set ... hoping the sqirrels will not start chewing on the carrot plants or kohlrabi.
even though it's been quite hot for the last ten days (30 C +), the flower garden is doing nicely ... but we do need rain ! have had very little rain over the last two months; plenty of rain only about 50 miles to the north of us ... but dry along lake ontario. hbg
Lord Ellpus, Muriel sounds a bit aggressive about your greenery. If you've ever posted with Roberta--usually on English threads--you might have heard about her cat Mikey. He and Muriel would make a venerable pair.
Hamburger, ehBeth posted some beautiful pics of your garden yesterday, I think. You have that touch.
OH! Blossom-end rot on the tomatoes!! This evening I sprayed the fruit and foliage with a special concoction from Ace Hardware with calcium chloride (or something like that). This is the first time ever having to use chemicals on my veggies and I'm not happy about it atall.
Thanks for all of the nice compliments about the photos. I appreciate everyone's patience with the fumbling and bumbling of uploading. Geez, was that a chore or what, trying to get the hang of things?
But now that the hang is gotten you can post away! And please do, the pics so far are great.
Sad news about the hedgehog...
(Last year, in my mother's [big] garden, there were five small birds, within three days ...)
