0C = 32F

I'm worried about the little green babies because tonight it's supposed to get down to near freezing. I think those little sprung sringtime bloomers should all be ok..... We'll see.

The big pink magnolias are passing their peak, one trillium is about to open, the epimediums' fuzzy flower buds have appeared out of no where, but should weather the weather ok. I think the primulas will also be ok.....

We need the rain we're getting today, but the snow that's coming tonight and tomorrow is going to wreck havoc with the garden. Our projected low for Sunday morning is 31 degs so I'll be putting plastic bags over everything tonight.

Had light frost on the car this morning, but the garden can be worked, and we can even open the windows a bit to be awakened by the doves outside.

They're competing with momma robin over a nesting site in a pine tree branch over the driveway.

(added April 27th) Momma Robin won; after all, she built here last year. With a bit of reno work, the nest will be good as new.

J_B, talk to me about the plastic bags. It's supposed to get down to 34 degrees with "some snow accumulation possible" tomorrow night. What should I be doing?

Well, the babies made it through last night's low.

Soz, you should probably be ok. How much snow accumulation is expected?

Soz, you should be ok unless you've already planted some tender annuals. I'm not going to do anything for my perennials or the pansies I've planted, but I'm going to put plastic grocery bags over the petunias and poke them into the ground with open hair pins. It just gives them a little added protection if you go much below freezing. Unless you have tropicals or truly tender plants (like basil) already in the ground, I think you'll be fine. I also have a couple hanging baskets with million-bells that I'm going to pull into the garage for the next couple days.

My garden looks like some asshole bulldozed it, which is exactly what happened.

Do you have any space left to garden at all, cjhsa?

Not really. Some dirt between a driveway and a fence. We moved most of the herbs to the shaded side of same driveway close to the house. Some volunteer tomatoes popped up in a 5'x5' patch of dirt where a loquat tree used to be - I had it cut down because it made such a mess. So, I guess that is my garden now.

my goodness.

I'm keeping the babies in for another week or two with all of this going around. I'll probably be okay...but still.

Snowing.

Bluebells are rather smooshed, bits of white here and there, not much accumulation yet and maybe won't be since the white stuff's been coming down for a while now, but that's about the only effects I can see. No tender annuals out yet.

Still yucky.

Oh wow!!!!!!!

You've got me beat by a mile. 8-12 inches of accumulation? Good grief!!

Mine's turned into rain again, for now anyway.

Oh but then I had to go and check the weather forecast:

Quote:
...SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 2 PM
SUNDAY...

.RAIN WILL MIX WITH AND CHANGE TO SNOW THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AND CHANGE BACK TO A WINTERY MIX BY
SUNDAY AFTERNOON. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BEGINNING TONIGHT ARE EXPECTED
TO BE FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL
OHIO.

So you have me beat by 3/4 of a mile, say.

I don't want accumulation!!!!! Crying or Very sad

Yuck is right. Rain and snow mixed, turning to all snow. Lows tonight in the upper 20s with 25-30mph winds. Yuck.
