You know what? I was listening to NPR on the way home...an interview with this guy, Paul Dixon who keeps track of and writes books about slang. So of course he's got an entire hip hop section.

He was saying that as soon as a hip hop term goes mainstream, it's dropped. Well yeah....
Anyway, he was saying how they held a funeral service for the word "def" when it appeared on Jay Leno or something. They got the Rev. Al Sharpton to officiate.
