Rainsoft Gold Series - Stuck valve - endless regen

Hi,

I have a 3 year old Rainsoft (Amazon?) Gold series softener which has worked well until this summer when it started to jam in the regen cycle. There is a vertical plastic piston-type valve which seems to "hop" off the drive mechanism. I can restore it to operation by putting the system in bypass to reduce the pressure and pushing and pulling the valve until it returns to the top position and snaps back onto the drive.

A Rainsoft tech fixed it once early in the summer and it worked for several months but now it is doing it again. The valve is becomeing very stiff to move.

Has anyone had this problem?

It sounds like the piston needs new Seals and Spacers.
Have the piston checked while it's out for service.

It is still under RS warranty ~ fix or replace...
