As the David Prentice site sparked a lively and interesting debate I thought it might be good to have a link specifically for anyone to list interesting sites so we can all see them.

here are some to start off with - I love the work of Kurt Jackson and some of the other artists in Cornwall - like all paintings they lose something in shrinking to web size.

I look forward to other peoples sites and comments .... Very Happy

Here is the site for the Chinati Foundation -- a former army fort in the Texas desert founded by Donald Judd and devoted to both permanent and temporary exhibitions of large installations. What I love most about this place is it's location being in stark contrast to the art pieces themselves, which are made of concrete and aluminum and all are unmistakably 20th/21st century. There are nice photos of some of the work exhibited there.

Vivien and Liberty, and other art forum posters, we need your thoughts on this. I assume people have gone to the Helpful Links topic, since there is a whole batch of Views listed - many of which might have been me as I spent a few weeks putting that together, and I am guessing that people think I am both unadventurous and controlling to want to review the links before putting them there. I admit I have a few that I haven't added yet, but they are in the pipeline.

My need for control is to keep out whaling porn, and to put things into useful sequence, and I don't mean that Helpful Link Topic to be boring.
I just don't think a couple of years worth of random links is useful to any of us to scroll through in year 1.5, not to mention past that.

There are big gaps in links listed, and the biggest this minute is in individual galleries (none), as opposed to museums or other venues.

also, I haven't given a category for single artists. Should I start listing every single artist mentioned by anyone ever? No one never? The chosen few and then which? Can I list galleries any of us might show at? I own one, and I think it would be past tacky to mention it by name, even if we did have a website. But, when I went to nyc on my once a century visit, I hit several galleries I would like to highlight.

Right now, I can see the more the merrier, but I am looking to years down the line, how to organize the link site for that.

I suppose I should start a whole new topic on this, I am just sussing out here.

I actually had not seen that topic, so thanks for mentioning it. I think it looks good, so far. I think you are wise to think of the complete mess that years of links could come to, and I don't think that organizing them would be boring but would make it much easier to find what you're looking for.

I think it depends on how much work you're able (or want) to put into the page when it comes to deciding on accepting every artist suggested and how to organize them. You could organize by style or era or geographic location or media, which might make it easier in finding a particular artist. As far as listing galleries where anyone here showed -- that would be cool. And I don't think it would be tacky to include a link to your own gallery in there, either -- why shouldn't you? As long as it doesn't turn into an "All-Osso-Gallery-All-The-Time" page, I think everyone would be interested in being able to see and keep up with your stuff.

good points all of them - I wasn't thinking of 'years down the line' but it would need addressing. What about a 'currently on' time-limited list???? and a permanent list separately.

I also would be very interested in your gallery and other artists work - maybe a thread specifically for members art based sites????

I'm new to this so will leave the arrangements to those with more knowledge.

Thanks, both of you. I think Craven may do a photo gallery type thing for a2k, and I have been thinking of putting my stuff there eventually.

And I think it would be good to add A2K members' galleries on the Helpful Link topic.

As to a what is going on now type list, I would go crazy personally trying to keep that up, but we might get a long term thread going on it where everybody
just adds links, and then any discussions could go into regular topics. I guess I don't know how to make it time sensitive m'self, but some topics on a2k do work that way. Hmmm, if it was time sensitive, then discussion wouldn't have to be split off....
