An interesting question. Perhaps if I did an experiment that enabled me to go into a semi-sensory deprevation state, I could find a different frame of reference for art. Then I might be able to cross over to a place that is void of sophistication and rules. Each of my students have his or her own set of rules. They have very distinctive styles. To get them to change or experiment with new styles is tedious and defeating. Their art empowers them. It states who they are. They paint with such intensity and passion, not caring if the work is shown or sold. Excuse the phrase, but they are in the moment. It is something I envy and cherish.

I started painting at two when I did an abstract in lipstick on my mother's director's wall.

At 16, I fell and wrecked my foot, but kept on painting on walls in my bedroom.

At 18, I studied drama at Juilliard and then went to live in Canada. There I acted, taught at a university and started a theatre program at a college.

At 53, I now live in a small town in northern California, co-own an artists' studio/gallery (modern) and run a creative arts program for developmentally challenged adults. It's a good life.

When we physically left San Francisco, for our hearts will always be there, we both pledged to find the diner to end all diners-do you remember ?.

There was Rosie's diner, Rockford just 25 miles of Grand Rapids, We also loved Highland Park Diner in Rochester do you remember those waffles and you got syrup all over your chin and I had to help you lick it off. The other diners must have thought we were newlyweds !

Physically challenged by a lifetime at the cookie jar, addicted to chocolate, sweets and candies, all the fatty things that taste so nice and do you in. For 5 decades have lived through alternating cycles of fit and fat. Unfortunately the balance is shifting and the scales are showing larger digits than I would like so I may have to have a life change in what I eat and drink as well as an habitual exercise program.
