As a republican, it might surprise you to know I have a great deal of respect for the Queen. She takes the job seriously. Its the institution of monarchy that I object to, not the misdeeds of individual royals. I naively thought they might pack up and go into retirementafter this year's jubilee. But it seems now they are going to go out in a blaze of ignomy

The beauty of the Guest Approach is that he creates an alternative reality, close to the one we know but different enough to be entertaining. I think that's why I find his Films so much fun yet I consider the new "reality TV" shows beyond boring. The people in the latter just aren't interesting, IMHO, because all they're about is a yen for fame.

This thread sounds interesting. I was in London last weekend for the AntiWar march. I found a good Weatherspoons pub just along from Holborn tube station, to rest my weary feet. Good beer, and sport on TV in the cellar bar.

And a very posh hotel next door, too swish for me, the Holborn Court or some such. Anyway that's the trouble with London, too many gaffs. Spoilt for choice.

Just want to say thanks for a great site, I love Klimt's work. But it's really best viewed by visiting the museum and seeing it first hand. Copies do not do justice to his work. The Belvedere in Vienna is such a beautiful place for seeing his work as as the Secession in Vienna. Also, there is a building in Vienna that Klimt added the front facade to in the 1st District (the old city). It's worth the effort to see.
