Raggedy, you are the most fascinating person that I have ever met. You continue to amaze me with your repertoire of songs, information, quiet acumen. Salute to you.

No cut and paste here. This from memory.

In the blue ridge mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine.
In the pale moonlight our hearts entwined,
She carved her name and I carved mine.

Oh, June, like the mountains I'm blue,
Like the pine I am lonesome for you.

In the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia
On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine.

Don't ask me where that came from. I'm just pleased that it came. Smile

Embarrassed Oh, thank you for the lovely compliment, Letty. It goes to my head like the bubbles in a glass of champagne, like a sip of sparkling Burgundy brew, like the kicker in a julip or two....

The Trail of the Lonesome Pine was a beautiful movie (1936), with Henry Fonda, Fred MacMurray and Spanky MacFarland (Spanky dies in the movie, a real tear-jerker). Fuzzy Knight sang the title song in the movie, but it was written as far back as 1913. (words - Ballard MacDonald, music - Harry Carroll). The other notable song by Harry Carroll was "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", (with a little bit of help from Frederic Chopin.)

Thank you Letty for my song, I feel really special now! Sure wish I had known you when you sang with your hubby's band, I would have loved to have heard you.

Certain things we know for sure in life, and one of those is that you are beautiful, inside and out!

Letty: I think what everyone is saying is that:

You're just too marvelous
Too marvelous for words
Like glorious, glamorous
And that old standby amorous.

It's all too wonderful
We'll never find the phrase
That says enough, tells enough
We mean they just aren't swell enough.

You're much too much, and just too very very
To ever be in Webster's dictionary.
And so we're borrowing a love song from the birds
To tell you that you're marvelous
Too marvelous for words. Very Happy

Raggedy and all. What actually prompted this thread was a discussion that I had with a former colleague on the telephone. She lost her son a year ago in an automobile wreck, and her husband just recently. She told me that she was going to celebrate their lives, not mourn their deaths.

What better memories can we have than a tribute through music.

June is bustin' out all over. The moonlight is shining on the shore and the girls who were contrary with the boys in January, aren't nearly so contrary anymore.and because it's June... June, June, June--Just because it's June, June, June! Very Happy

Very Happy Nah, Misti...She's too damn fat...:

To all those who are struggling to shed the pounds, forget it.

It's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
I like to sup with my baby tonight
Refill the cup with my baby tonight
I like to sup with my baby tonight
Refill the cup with my baby tonight
But I ain't up to my baby tonight
Cause it's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
It's just too darn hot
I like to coo with my baby tonight
And pitch the woo with my baby tonight
I like to coo with my baby tonight
And pitch the woo with my baby tonight
But brother you fight my baby tonight
Cause it's too darn hot
According to the kinzy report
Every average man you know
Much prefers his lovey dovey to court
When the temperature is low
But when the thermometer goes way up
And the weather is sizzling hot
Mr. Pants for romance is not
Because it's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
Oh, it's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
I like to coo with my baby tonight
And pitch the woo with my baby tonight
I like to coo with my baby tonight
Pitch the woo with my baby tonight
Brother you fight my baby tonight
Cause it's too darn hot
Mr. Gob for his squab,
A marine for his queen,
A G.I. for his cutie pie is not
Oh it's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
It's too darn hot
I gotta get the heat down
Gotta get the heat down.

Damn, If I could just redistribute the weight. Laughing
