There's a song, I heard Ray Charles Sing years ago. I don't remember the words, but they're something like:

What makes the grass to grow,
what makes the wind to blow,...etc.,etc,.etc.,.......

The song is;..."You Gotta' Have a Song" ..... Dedicated to who else, but Letty Of The Lyrics?

Booman could this be the song?

Loving You
Lyrics written by Judy Holliday

Loving you
Makes the grass grow
Makes the wind blow
Makes the snow so white

Loving you
Makes a bell ring
Makes a song sing
Makes the wrong thing right

Loving you
You make a butterfly flutter by
You make a willow whisper sigh after sigh
Loving you

Makes a sun set
Makes the rain wet
Makes a star get bright
In sheer delight

Loving you
Makes a butterfly flutter by
You make a willow whisper sigh after sigh
Loving you

Makes a sun set
Makes the rain wet
Makes a star get bright
In sheer delight

My delight
My dear delight
Loving You
Loving You

Bob,
...No I'm prettty sure it's "You gotta' Have A Song", and it asks questions like "what makes the grass grow tall?, or something like that.

thanks Letty! Very Happy

There was a statement by a Ray Charles backup singer that back in the days, if you wanted to be a Raylette, you had to 'Let Ray'....my absurd sense of humour was piqued by the Ray Charles song being dedicated to Letty....go figure...Very Happy

Adorable, Cav. Love it!

Speaking of which, here's a slight conversion:

LettyBe (Apologies to the Beatles Razz )

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

And in my hour of darknes
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

LET IT BE, LET IT BE, LET IT BE, LET IT BE
WHISPER WORDS OF WISDOM, LET IT BE

And when the broken hearted peaple
living in the world agree
there will be an answer, let it be

for though they maybe parted
there is still a chance that they will see
there will be an answer, let it be

LET IT BE, LET IT BE...............
THERE WILL BE AN ANSWER, LET IT BE

And when the night is cloudy
there is still a light that shines on me
shine until tommorow, let it be

I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Cat Stevens wrote this. Funny it should be about a dog, don't you think babe.

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he'll get

So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All the pay I need comes shining through his eyes
I don't need no cold water to make me realize that

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...

this is for my late uncle, hamburger's older brother

Silver Thunderbird - performed by Marc Cohn

Watched it coming up Winslow
Down South Park Boulevard
Yeah it was looking good from tail to hood
Great big fins and painted steel
Man it looked just like the Batmobile
With my old man behind the wheel

Well you could hardly even see him
In all of that chrome
The man with the plan and the pocket comb
But every night it carried him home
And I could hear him sayin'...

Don't gimme no Buick
Son you must take my word
If there's a God in heaven
He's got a Silver Thunderbird
You can keep your Eldorados
And the foreign car's absurd
Me I wanna go down
In a Silver Thunderbird

He got up every morning
While I was still asleep
But I remember the sound of him shuffling around
Then right before the crack of dawn
I heard him turn the motor on
But when I got up they were gone

Down the road in the rain and snow
The man and his machine would go
Oh the secrets that old car would know
Sometimes I hear him sayin'...

and for a very dear friend here, there and everywhere:

from Thistles by Roy Forbes

Right After My Heart

Your sorrow's getting much too amplified
You cause yourself too much grief
Somebody's taken you for a ride
You need some kind of relief

Look at me
I'm running around
I'm looking all over the world
Look at me
I'm running right after my heart

You're looking like you've been thrown around
By somebody who couldn't feel
He said he'd show you around the town
He stole all that he could steal

Look at me
I'm running around
I'm looking all over the world
Look at me
I'm running right after my heart

Woh Me

Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a gentle helping hand
Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a lovin' understanding

Late at night
when the moon is shining bright
And you're shivering cold
You don't have to turn on your electric blanket
Cos I'll be there for you to hold

Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a gentle helping hand
Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a lovin' understanding

Late at night
When you're tossing and turning
And your pillow just won't fit your head right
Don't get upset
I'll be right here beside you
And I'm quite prepared to hold you tight

Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a gentle helping hand
Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a lovin' understanding

Late at night
When the wind is blowing
And the rain is pounding down on your roof
Don't let annoy you
Listen to the melody
Come over here
I've got some love for you

Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a gentle helping hand
Woh me, I'm comin' to you
With a lovin' understanding

And to all you blues lovers, who could ever beat Lady Day(sorry Boo... Laughing)

http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/grp/product.asp?pid=9191

Just a tiny bit from each fantastic song that she sang. My favorite is "My Man"

"....what's the good if I should say,
I'll go away when I know I'll come back
On my knees someday.
and wherever my my man is,
I am his forever more."

Edgar, a companion piece to your Cotton Balls and dedicated to anyone here south of the Mason-Dixon line. Very Happy

by the highwaymen

When I was a little bitty baby my Mama used to rock me in my cradle.
In those old cotton fields back home.
T'was down in Louisiana
Just about a mile from Texarkana.
In those old cotton fields back home.
And when those cotton balls get rotten,
You can't pick very much cotton.
In those old cotton fields back home.

T'was down in Louisiana just about a mile from Texarkana,
In those old cotton fields back home.

Everyone<

"Love" can be expressed in many different ways and on many different levels. It can also cross gender boundaries as men often have male friends whom they love . . . and vice-versa for women with females.

I have always thought that friends were a bit shy about expressing their love to one another, especially to those from the same gender. I have tried to post song lyrics here that would have the universality of love itself.

Even if you disagree with my thesis about love and friends, I do wish that you will appreciate the lyrics:

If I loved you
Time and again I would try to say
All I'd want you to know
If I loved you
Words wouldn't come in an easy way
'Round in circles I'd go

Longin' to tell you but afraid and shy
I'd let my golden chances pass me by

Soon you'd leave me
Off you would go in the midst of day
Never, never to know
How I'd love you
If I loved you

~~music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, from their musical, Carousel~~

Ah, Williamhenry, this one's for you:

We lived our little drama,
We kissed in a field of white,
And stars fell on Alabama last night.

I can't forget the glamor,
Your eyes held a tender light
and stars fell on Alabama last night.

(bridge)
I never planned in my imagination,
a situation, so heavely.
A fairy land where no one else could enter.
And in the center, just you and me dear.

My heart beat like a hammer
Your arms wound around me tight.
And stars fell on Alabama last night.

Sung by old "blue eyes"
