I am auditioning for an amatuer production of "Cats" and I want to audition for one of two roles.
One of the roles is Rumtumtugger and I was after the name of the other cat.
Recently I watched the first 45 mins of the dvd version and the cat in question is definitely in it a fair amount.
He almost seems to be a narrator of sorts and he definitely has solo lines, if not an entire song (can't remember now.)
He seems about the same age and has the same physical attributes as Rumtumtugger if that helps.
Any ideas on what this cat is called?
Thanks for your time. Peter.
No idea but good luck.
The only character I can think of fro Cats is Mr Mustofolees.

MACAVITY

CORICOPAT

RUM TUM TUGGER AND MR. MISTOFFELEES

MUNKUSTRAP

SKIMBLESHANKS
Arthur, I hope the photos help. I don't know which production you have on DVD, but hopefully the costumes/make-up are similar enough to help you identify the right cat.
Good luck with the audition. Let us know how it goes.
Great idea looking up images. Unfortunately they all look quite similar! It's ok I will snag the dvd again and work out which songs he sings then do a google search.
Thanks for all the help
Arthurbach--
Break a leg. You belong in a cast.
My school did Cats in January and I was involved; I played Victoria, the white cat. It was really a lot of fun despite the long and grueling rehearsals.
definately
the cat you are thinking is without doubt Munkustrap. I am playing him in a production of cats at the time. Watching the movie won't help, because his name is never said. Well it is said once in "the naming of cats" but you can't tell who they're talking about. he is a fun cat to play, you get to tell the story of the jellicle cats. and the best part, you get to fight macavity. the song that he gets to himself is "the awful battle of the pekes and the pollicles" (which they unfortunately cut from our show.) if it is an amature show, they might cut it from yours also.
