Does that make me too old? Smile

I don't mind Eminem, but he's extraordinary. What I really can't stand is when these rappers let their girlfriends sing, or produce an album for them. "Whoaaaa whhoaaaa I'm his hoooooooooo". Ding ba da ding bling bling. Argh.

one of my favorite songs at the moment is "it's goin' down"

The logical progression on the timeline
The seperation narrowed down to a fine line
To blur the edges so they blend together properly
Take you on an audible odyssey

Everybody on board as we blend
The sword with the pen
The mightiest the weapons
Swinging right from the chin
To elevate of mental states
Long gone with the wind
To defend men from shoddy imitation pretends

I think it's sort of the anthem for this "new wave" of music hybrids - it's a logical progression.

Just like Stalin said - One day, everyone'll be a socialist. Or something. <wings>

cjhsa, yeah, Nelly rapping about basketball shoes for example smacks of something very very wrong...I dig Mystikal, think he is really funny, but definitely not for the kiddies. Great use of his song "Shake Yo Ass" in 'Scary Movie II' as well. Ok, bringing up Nick Cave again....got it on the CD player....totally sexual, great strange biblical and base imagery, and avoids too much cursing:

Hard On For Love

It is for she that the cherry bleeds
That the moon is steeped in milk and blood
That I steal like a robber
From her altar of love
O money lender! O clover gender!
I am the fiend hid in her skirts
And it's as hot as hell in here
Coming at her as I am from above
Hard on for love hard on for love
Hard on for love hard on for love
Well, I swear I seen that girl before
Like she walked straight outa the book of Leviticus
But they can stone me with stones I don't care
Just as long as I can get to kiss
Those gypsy lips! Gypsy lips!
My aim is to hit this Miss
And I'm moving in (I'm moving in)
Coming at her like Lazarus from above
Hard on for love hard on for love
Hard on for love hard on for love
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
But he leadeth me like a lamb to the lips
Of the mouth of the valley of the shadow of death
I am his rod and his staff
I am his sceptre and shaft
And she is heaven and hell
At whose gates I ain't been delivered
I'm gunna give the gates a shove
Hard on for love hard on for love
Hard on for love hard on for love
And her breasts rise and fall
Breasts rise and fall
Breasts rise and fall
Breasts rise and fall
And just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
You are beautiful! O dove!
Hard on for love hard on for love
Hard on for love hard on for love
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Her breasts rise and fall
Her breasts rise and fall
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Just when I'm about to get my hands on her
Hard on for love hard on for love
Hard on for love hard on for love

"I seem so totally at odds with the modern world, sometimes I feel that I'm harping on about things and I wonder who's interested in that anyway, anymore. These days, I feel so alienated that I just see myself as some oddity or novelty that has ceased to be important." -Nick Cave to "Sounds", July 1986

Even today, I can relate, lol. <sigh> I miss the dude, he hasn't put out anything good lately....

I HATE EMINEM with a PASSION! Mad

Does anyone who is a fan of LINKIN PARK, have the Meteora CD yet?

Friends of mine say that Pink is versitale but I say that she is confused and still trying to find herself and style. Her first album is very different from the first, going from R&B to whatever she wants to call this.

I was born in the 70's, but check out Nick Cave's lyrics, they are quite poetic. I hate Eminem too, and I agree with your feelings on Pink. Incidentally, Nick Cave has been active since 1979, and I believe the latest album was in 2001. Maybe I am old too, but so what? I still hate Eminem Wink

How can you despise Eminem and like 50-cent? You realize he's been shaped, molded, and produced by Eminem and Dr. Dre?

I don't like eminem (understatement) because of his arrogance and cockyness among other reasons. I don't like too many 50 cent songs either b/c of the cursing. You know you aren't true to yourself when you rap about rapeing your mother. M&M seems like another Vanilla Ice, rapping about things that aren't real. Atleast 50 cent has the bullet holes to justify his lyrics.

M&M makes meSICK!
(notice I'm getting lazy with my spelling)

gvapid -

why do you hate eminem? I think he's brilliant.

as an aside ... did you know that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference? and that the opposite of hate is ALSO indifference ... which might make love and hate the same thing? <g>

please scratch that first question. <winks>

I have a different one:

where the hell you get off saying eminem raps about things that aren't real? <giggles> No - really - that makes me think you weren't a white kid growing up on welfare, or something?

Laughing OMG. That is the funniest thing I've heard. If I loved Eminem, I'd be indifferent to music and good taste. I think my above post tells a little of why I hate him.

Even HE says that everything he says isn't real. I just think that he's ON all the time.
