Looking for Name of Old TV/Film Actress

Does anybody remember a comedienne from the 1940's? All that I can remember was that she used to wear a hat with the tag hanging down from it. I think that she was a "country" actress.

Yeah, sweet old Minnie. I heard that she was actually well educated even though she seemed perfectly at home as a sort of hillbilly.
