Greatly appreciative of these updates BBB.
The computer power supply is likely the culprit. These are easy to replace and relatively cheap units on most desktops. Good luck Ash.
Ash,
Just got back online myself. The progress reports sound remarkable. Hope everything continues at the same pace.

Ash, glad to know things are looking up !

Natalie has improved to the point where they've moved her to a new room. Still complaining of pain and joint stiffness, but is doing better at feeding herself and controlling bowels. Today she's able to handle books, read a newspaper, and sit upright several hours at a time.
It looks as if the AARP health insurance will not be paying much, if anything toward this hospital stay. Oh well....
Asherman is getting a new computer. Waiting for Comcast to hook it up. Then he can post on A2K again.
Have him plug the old modem into the new computer and reboot. It should work.

That's disgusting.
Thanks for the update, BBB. Great news Asherman. Continuing best wishes to you and yours.

At 3 p.m. this afternoon, Natalie will be moved by ambulence to Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque. This move appears to be becaue of her progress, and is promising.
Natalie is much better, and has been moved to a hospital room that doesn't require as much medical care. She's sitting up now and is able to feed hersef. Two more days of intensive and powerful antibiotics before they will cvonsider sending her to a skilled nursing home for further rehabilitation.
Again, there is no insurance so I'll have an even larger medical debt to payoff. I might be rich, just not rich enough for these circumstances.
I have 3 paintings in a large exhibition opening tomorrow night. More later when I'm back on the internet.
My computer completely died, so now I'm totally dependant on my Blackberry for comunications.

BBB: Ash's son bought him a Blackberry about four months ago to provide more communication possibilities. Ash can't hear on the telephone and doesn't hear the door bell. They hooked up a light system to alert him that someone is at the door. Until his new computer is operational, the Blackberry is a life saver re keeping in touch.
Ash, it's my understanding, from the experience of friends and neighbors, that Natalie is entitled to medicare support IF her stay at the rehabilitation center requires expert MEDICAL treatment for specific ailments. As soon as that treatment is not necessary then you'll have to pay for the purely rehab services. I think that's right.
Natalie continues to improve, but the rate of improvement is slowing. She is doing exercises to rebuild muscle control. She can do more with her hands now, but still has trouble hoding a book. She is'nt very mobil, and can only walk to the door of the room (319) with the aid of as walker. She says she's getting only a few hours sleep at a time and then has to get up to go to the toilet.
Her plants were dying, so I've taken them home to plant. My guess is that her days are long being unable to move about or read easily. She sits up for several hours each day, and to eat.
I'm working in the studio every day, and have sold a number of paintings.
Still no computer, so everything goes through th Blackberry.
My thumbs are tired from typing on this tiny keyboard' so that's all for now.

BBB: I'm so glad Ash has sold some paintings. Not only to help him with medical expenses. But because his paintings are very good and unique and his talent is recognized. I have three of his paintings in my home and new visitors always comment on them. They usually also comment on the style difference between his paintings and my own, which are hung throughout my home.
Asherman--
I hope Natalie can come home soon. Life is hard when you have to commute to love.
Hold your dominion.

Asherman checked in following Albuquerque's huge sand storm Tuesday night.---BBB
Big wind, no damage. My "Art Sale" sign blew away, probably in Kansas by now. Not much of a loss, but I'll have to make a new one. Sales of paintings out of the studio have been great for the past few weeks.
Natalie is basically unchanged, though she is a bit more mobile. I'm painting evry day and pleased with the results. Being without a computer does have its upsides. The May issue of The Palette is being done by someone else for the first time in almost two and a half years.
This morning I'm going to get a haircut and buy a new computer, both paid for from painting sales. Getting back onto the internet will still take some time. Comcast will have to come out (at their liesure) to hook up their system to the new machine. The Blackberry isd a wonderful lifeboat, but its no way to voyage the way I do. I haven't written a thousand words since the old machine died. My usual habit is to write 1500 words each day. I miss that discipline ... Bring on the whips. LOL.

Nothing beats a good health insurance plan.
This is clearly all the fault of Bush and his clear and positive outlook for democracy in Iraq. Bleah....
I'm back on line as to noon today. The new computer is a Compaq Presario and should last a long time. It was paid for out of painting sales, so our basic budget won't be affected. I need to continue to spend a lot of time in the studio where sales are possible. I'll check back later. Thanks for the continued concern for Natalie. I have no idea when she'll be released. The doctors have been talking about anemia, so they're trying to build up her red blood count.
Asherman, another hug for you, and let's hope Natalie is soon at home and in good conditions.
All the best to your wife ... and for you as well!
(Quite funny, sending these wishes actually now just over the river  )
I do hope things are 100% in your favour Asherman, and that we will have the opportunity to chat more.
